Exercise is an important part of any weight loss regimen. But with busy schedules, we all want to know which exercises will help us lose the most weight quickly.
Broadly, there are two types of exercises: aerobic and strength training (or anaerobic), and each one contributes differently to weight loss. Aerobic exercise burns fat calories while you are engaged in the exercise itself. On the other hand, strength training primarily contributes to weight loss by helping to increase the speed of your resting metabolic rate (RMR), which is the number of calories your body burns while you are at rest. Your RMR actually increases (i.e., burns more calories) the more muscular your body is because it takes much more energy to maintain muscles than it does to maintain fat.
Important note: remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so some strength training exercises will make you healthier and more attractive while not necessarily contributing to weight loss. But, muscles are a “good” kind of weight and you should aim to build more muscle in order to help keep body fat at bay.
Here are 5 tips for exercises - both aerobic and strength training - you can do at home to lose weight quickly.
Tip #1: Squats: Your buttocks and leg muscles are the largest muscles in your body. Every day in front of the mirror, put your feet at shoulder width while facing forward and squat down-and-up 10-20 times for 2 or 3 sets. This will build your leg and buttock muscles. As you build up strength, try holding 2 or 5 pound dumbbells in your hands while you work out. Be sure to warm up first, and stop if you notice any sharp pain in your knees.
Tip #2: Pushups: Pushups are a form of strength training: during a pushup your arms have to support up to 70% of your body weight. Do 2 or 3 sets of 20 pushups to build arm strength and increase your RMR.
Tip #3: Jumping jacks: Jumping jacks are an excellent whole-body aerobic workout you can do right at home. Do 4 or 5 sets of 20 jumping jacks, or as needed. Hint: if you live in an apartment or stay in a second-story bedroom, be considerate of your neighbors by going outside or doing these in a first story room.
Tip #4: Fast walking: While walking is in itself a great aerobic exercise, fast walking is even better for burning fat. Make sure you really stretch first and warm up with regular walking. Once you start your faster walking pace, try to maintain as much speed as possible for as long as you can. If you get tired, try doing intervals of fast walking followed by short periods of slower walking.
Tip #5: Stepping: Stepping is a great way to get your heart beating and to burn calories. You can use your stairs at home, but for best results I suggest buying specialized stackable step mats and stack them up to at least 15 inches (38 cm). Do 2 to 3 sets of 20 steps each to begin. Even though you may not feel like the stepping is helping, it is! This exercise will not only help you lose weight but will also help shape up your buttocks and legs.
An important element in a strategy to lose weight quickly at home is to do a combination of exercises that build muscles (strength training) while burning fat (aerobic exercises). Start a regimen of most or all of these exercises 2-3 days/week and watch the unhealthy fat melt away.

It depends on how you want to lose the weight - the healthy way or the fast way?The healthy way would be to cut everything bad you're eating out of your diet. Fast food, unhealthy carbs, drinks with lots of sugar, etc. If you know it's not good for you, don't eat it. Drink a ton of water, as much as you can handle in one day. If you don't eat breakfast, start! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day when you're trying to lose weight. Eat 3-5 healthy, small, but balanced meals throughout the day. You should also gradually increase the amount of exercise you do every day. Depending on how good your self-control and your motivation is, this method could probably help you lose 2-4 lbs a week at the most. So you're looking at about anywhere from 16-30 lbs of potential weight loss in a matter of 2 months.
If that's not good enough for you, you could always try weight loss pills such as Hydroxycut. (I do not recommend this option, but I have tried them and they do speed up weight loss a lot.) But the side effects are completely not worth it, and its much harder to keep the weight off when you run out of pills.

But it's enough, when combined with a healthy diet, to lose weight at about a pound a week. First off, start by eating healthier. Eat mostly fruits and vegetables, with plenty of protein, fiber and carbohydrates. A good trick to not eat so much is to not pile food on your plate over one inch high, and not to finish everything on your plate. Also, stay away from foods high in sugar, salt, preservatives, and fat. This means limiting or cutting out all chips, sodas, cake, ice cream, pizza, french fries, hot dogs, or anything fried. Instead, go for a salad, something grilled, veggies, fruit, and drink lots of water.
For snacks, I recommend non-fat yogurt, fruits like grapes, oranges, and bananas, or low calorie gum. The snacks will come in handy if you start getting hungry and need a snack, to prevent possible binging later. Switch your carbohydrates to whole wheat, and switch over to lean meat, such as fish. Try to keep your food as natural as possible.
Also, don't forget to count your calories. This will help you in keeping a careful eye on what you're eating.
Be sure not to drink too much alcohol, as that can be a depressant. It can make you depressed, which can cause you to overeat (binge).
As for working out and exercising, I recommend doing a variety of all sorts of activities, like jumproping, jumping jacks, hula hooping, crunches, situps, pullups, pushups, planks, jackknives, stretching, lifting weights, yoga, pilates, squats, lungs, bicycling, swimming, running, work out CD's, and strength training. Doing as many different activities as you can that use different muscles is important- it will help you get so much more toned, and lose more weight. Just try and fit as much exercise as you can in a day.
Another thing that wouldn't be a bad idea is getting a personal trainer, if you can afford it. They can personalize plans just for you, to get the body type you want.

vYou need to do cardio! When I say that you have to work hard and get your heart rate up. So many people say they do cardio but they walk or job leisurely on the treadmill or elliptical. Running is the best way to shred excess fat (make sure you have good knees). It's not about losing 2 or 3 pounds here and there because it is very easy to gain it back. You have to change the complexion of how your body functions. Consistency is the key. The more you workout your metabolism will burn fat at a higher rate. Eventually you want your body to work for you, not work for your body (if that makes sense). And if you want to lift and workout I recommend doing high intensity circuit workouts where you are doing an exercise one after another, to again, get your heart rate up and increase your fitness level (not be one of the those people we do a set, rest for 2-3 minutes and do another one). There is too much down time, that's good for increasing strength but not overall fitness. Diet is just as important as working out!

You are starving yourself...not good at all. You will lose weight, but not keep it off. Once you start eating regular again, your body will regain it. When your starve yourself, you body slows down it's metabolism to conserve energy. This means once you start eating regular again, you will gain weight quicker. Do not do this to yourself. A reasonable diet and exercise will work. Do not be in such a hurry. Being healthy is more important than being thin.

The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. I have lost a total of 120 pounds so far.
I lost 105 pounds in my first 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.
Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. haha I see the affiliate marketing spam people have swarmed over your question. I hate those guys.Anyway, look into getting a BodyBugg. I bought one three weeks ago and I'm doing pretty well with it. Lost 10 pounds so far. Essentially, it measures very precisely how many calories you burn during the day, and you wear it all the time on your arm. You then upload your stats to the online software where you input your food log as well. You're goal is to eat less calories than you burn, which will result in weight loss. Only problem you might have is its kinda expensive, about 0 with the display watch.
It's hard to lose consistently when you can't measure, so its kinda nice it takes the guesswork out of dieting. good luck.
If the Bodybugg is too expensive, the only thing I can suggest is limiting your caloric intake, and try to exercise for 10-20 minutes three times a day even if it is walking. You burn a lot more by spacing out your workouts.

When you start out, stick with walking at a brisk pace (not strolling). You can get a pedometer and do the 10,000 steps a day which equals to about 5 miles. When you start though, don't do 10,000 steps. Start with like 5,000 then increase the count by 500-1000 steps each week. After she gets used to it then she can start jogging then running.
Food, wise start eliminating things that you really don't need to eat. Examples are chips, soda, juice and candy. I'm not suggesting banning these things for life just not having these foods all the time.

Well the Master Cleanse aka the Lemonade Diet is really popular. I went on it and lost about 20 pounds in two weeks. I must say that I had the drink mix and it tasted disgusting I couldn't stomach the lemonade and spiciness together. But if you are really determined you can do it. For a hint I drank the honey and the pure lemon juice then took the pepper in a tablet so I was getting the same thing just not tasting the paper.I suggest you don't go this for too long as it may initiate problems is used for too long. So only a a week two weeks max. Good luck starting middle school! Just remember be careful you are young is dangerous to malnourish you body.
Don't fall victim to all the products they endorse on those websites just go to a health food store and order the products. Or you can just order the mix and herbal tea online. There really isn't a way to lose weight fast. You want to lose fat, really, and your body cannot burn more than two pounds of fat per week. If you lose weight faster than that it's either water weight (at the beginning of a diet) or muscle mass.Here are some tips:
1. Walking is the best way to lose belly fat. Buy a pedometer (about at Wal-Mart for a cheap one) and count your steps. Try to increase 1000 steps per day until you go over 10,000.
2. Do some strength training, such as lifting weights. This will help develop muscles. A pound of muscle burns more calories than a pound of fat (and is about half the size). You will burn more calories even when you are asleep.
3. At 230 lbs, your body requires about 2300 calories per day to maintain that weight. You do not want to cut out too many calories, because your body will catabolize muscle before it will catabolize fat. You don't want to destroy your muscles.
Try to cut about 500 calories per day from your diet. Get a kitchen scale and really measure portions. You'd be surprised how little a cup is, and how large your portion sizes are. At that intake, you will lose about a pound a week just from your reduced calorie intake. If you exercise, you will increase that.
4. Figure out what kind of an eater you are. Some people can do portion control. They can figure out what a 100-calorie portion of chocolate cake is and eat that, or eat 1/4 of a pint of reduced fat frozen yogurt. I'm not one of those. If I open the bag of M&M's, I will eat the bag of M&M's, whether it's a tiny little handful or a 1-lb bag. I have learned that I have to eliminate foods that are unhealthy for me. I can't buy chips, because I WILL open them, and then I WILL eat the whole bag. Work with your eating patterns. If you can pour out 1-oz of chips and eat them, indulge once a week. If you can't, you're better off not buying the chips.
5. Focus your diet on whole grains, beans, vegetables, fruits, low-fat or fat-free dairy, and lean meats or fish, if you like them. Fruit and veggies are your best friends.
6. Drink at least two litres of water per day, and aim for four. Your body stores fat as fatty acids. In order to burn fat, it has to hang three fatty acid molecules onto a water molecule. Without water, you can't lose weight. Also, water fills you up. Water can be flavored with sugar free drink mixes or sugar-free tea.
7. Get at least seven hours of sleep per night. That's when your body is dealing with the fat. You can't lose weight if you don't sleep enough.
8. Educate yourself. I highly recommend Susan Powter (her Stop the Insanity set is out of print but is sometimes available on eBay), Dean Ornish, Covert Bailey, and Pritikin. Pritikin and Ornish are a little severe, but they are dealing with people who have serious coronary problems.
9. Get support. Consider joining a gym and finding a personal trainer. Sometimes you can join a trainer's group and pay a lot less. Weight Watchers is pretty good, but I'm a member of Take Off Pounds Sensibly, and it's helped a lot.
10. DON'T GIVE UP. If you "cheat" or skip a day of exercise, it's not the end of the world. It's a minor set back, and if you stick to your diet/exercise plan for a year, no one will notice one chocolate bar or one day spent vegging on the couch. It's the chocolate bar every day or the vegging every day that kills you.

In the last 3 weeks I have lost 16.5 pounds by limiting sugar, salt, and fats. I have been eating complex carb (such as whole grains) which are harder to digest and therefore don't turn to fat. I have also been choosing lean meats or tofu for protein.You might want to read up on the rice diet. I have learned a lot by studying about it. It is much more than rice, but you have to be committed to a lifestyle change.

It depends on what kind of meat you are referring to: Atkins and all of the low carb diets are great! At least they work for me! I tried on and off with them for years and finally came up with my own diet based around cheeseburgers believe it or not! I lost 60lbs by eating cheeseburgers without the buns and kept it off by later eating cheeseburgers on whole grain high fiber buns/bread. This was perfect for me as I love both meat and cheese!One note for you, if you have not gone the low carb route before...
When you do Induction it is vitally important that you do not cheat! I failed several times when first attempting Atkins because of this, you may cheat and not even know it. You absolutely must keep your carb count down as low as possible and that means below 20 grams per day. Treat anything that says less than one carb per serving as one carb and be suspicious of most things that claim zero carbs, it seems that there is some leeway in the labeling area here! LOL!Anyway, good luck!

To lose weight (fat), include more fibrous slow digesting carbs, as opp. to the fast digesting ones.No white breads, fast foods, sodas (not even diet) no ketchups, sugar, only skim milk, not 2%, skim and whole grain non sweet (sugary) cereal, whole wheat bread, maybe buy some soy or whey protein.
Include lean meats like ham, and other sources of protein. Avoid red meats. Take a multivitamin, calcium and vitamin d every 2 days, one or two V8s a day (or every other day).
Don't starve, eat small healthy meals. A lot of small meals opposed to a few bigger ones-- make sure is has at least 8-10 or more g of protein, not too much protein because the body can only digest a certain amount at a time; and avoid too many fruits, carbs and sugars. Fibrous veggies, greens (no starches or potatoes) are good, and no BBQ sauce (unless used sparingly) and not too much (if any) salad dressing.
Before bed (2 hrs), eat something with protein, don't
eat many carbs before bed. Eat some of that good cereal in the morning, you need quality carbs, just not too much, and the slow digesting ones.Do slow crunches until you can not do anymore, jog stairs (be safe though), warm up first and do sprints, short bursts of intense activity is very effective compared to long weak activity, just don't over do it. Also include some slow but long endurance jogging. Be active!
Jog stairs ;and also do some lunges until it burns, do this every day or 2 days, keep going and don't give up, same with eating, you need some fat, so one or two fish oils daily.
Eat fish (not fried, be careful, very careful for bones) Peanut butter on whole wheat (no jelly), which has protein, and don’t worry about the fat in that. Avocados, has fat, good fat; eat it when your hunger cravings get you.
When you do crunches, also twist on some to work your sides, keep tension on your abs.

I have quite a lot to lose so i thought i would lose more.The main problem was i ended up with too much uric acid in the blood and now my joints are painful but im going to try fast tract hypnosis. I should know. I'm an idiot.I bought the Fat Loss 4 Idiots program a few years ago (Actually, I think it was called "Weight Loss 4 Idiots" then). I was tempted by their claim that I could "lose 9 pounds in 11 days" by "eating foods that I choose". I was excited to fork over my money and begin my journey to weight loss success.
What happened? Well, when I tried to select my foods, I was presented with a list of food choices, many of which I didn't like. Despite what they'll tell you in the advertisements, this is a high protein low carb diet. And I'm a vegetarian. There were many "fake meat" products to choose from, but I don't like those either.
Still, I thought that I might be able to substitute foods that I did like and somehow apply the principle of the diet. I didn't like what I saw. Other review sites will tell you that you get to eat "4 square meals a day" on the Fat Loss 4 Idiots program. But this isn't entirely true. You do get to eat four meals a day. However, the "meals" consist of one food only. How much of any one food can a person eat? Not much.
What about all the additional information that comes with the program? There was not a single piece of information on that site which I hadn't already heard from a free source.
Fat Loss 4 Idiots only works because it is a very low calorie, low carb diet. However, it's just that. A diet. It doesn't teach you how to properly eat so that you don't gain weight when you go off the diet. It's likely that this is just a temporary solution.
The weight will come back.The reality is that losing weight permanently isn't easy and it doesn't happen overnight. I know that's not a popular sentiment, but it's the truth. You are much better off making healthy changes over time that become a permanent part of your life.

Make small changes to your eating habits -- choose water over soda at dinner. Replace white bread with wheat bread. Snack on low-fat popcorn instead of chips.

Even making little changes like eliminating sodas and sugary snacks makes a massive difference. My suggestion would be to start with changes in your diet and then move into 30 mins a day of moderate exercise (moderate meaning you could hold a slightly breathless conversation with someone). It needs to be enough to get your heart rate slightly elevated to burn calories.
