  1. QUESTION:
Does anyone know of any healthy meal plans?
Need healthy meal plans that do not take all day to prepare.

    • ANSWER:
Weight Watchers is a great weight loss program that many experts feel is one of the better programs on the market. Experts like Weight Watchers because it not only encourages a sensible diet consisting of healthy, ordinary foods, but also stresses the importance of exercise and a positive attitude. Weight Watchers is also flexible, which makes it easier for most people to follow, and its cost is reasonable for a commercial program.
Weight Watchers has always believed that dieting is just one part of long-term weight management. A healthy body results from a healthy lifestyle — which means mental, emotional, and physical health. Weight Watchers does not tell you what you can or can't eat — they provide information, knowledge, tools and motivation to help you make the decisions that are right for you about nutrition and exercise. Weight Watchers helps you make healthy eating decisions, and encourages you to become more active. To help provide motivation and encouragement, Weight Watchers offers Meetings where members discuss challenges they face and learn tools to succeed. Meeting members often become meeting Leaders and Receptionists — sharing the story of their personal success with others.

  7. QUESTION:
What are some good weekly meal ideas for healthy meal plans? Lots of veggies/fruits and healthy meat etc?

    • ANSWER:
Breakfast is great anytime of day.

      ZIPLOC OMELET

(This works great! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet).

Have each person write their name on a Quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.
Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.
Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, salsa, tofu etc.
Each person adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.
Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.
Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece.

Imagine having these ready the night before, and putting the bag in boiling water while you get ready for work. And in 13 minutes, you got a nice omelette for a quick breakfast!

Try it. . . .it really works!

  9. QUESTION:
Looking for some suggestions for tasteful HEALTHY meal plans...?
The wife and I want to really nail down and start eating healthier. As much as we want to, we find it hard to figure out what is healthy that we can make.

What are some healthy meals that we can prepare? Ideally without sacrificing taste!

If you really want to go the extra mile, what are some meal plans we could follow. I think part of it for us is not being prepared to make anything healthy. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
First you deserve congratulations for making the effort to eat healthy. And I have good news -- eating healthy does not mean sacrificing taste. My approach to healthy eating begins with fresh foods, simple recipes, a healthy dose of common sense and avoiding processed foods as much as reasonably possible.

Let me explain. About the time my older sister turned thirteen and discovered the concept of hips she would without fail ask my mother a different variation of the same question. It went something like this: “Ma, is fudge fattening?” or “Ma, is ice cream fattening?” She would ask with that tone in her voice that begged for my mother to answer “of course not dear, eat as much as you would like.” And in so doing convene that myth into truth. But my mother who I now realize was wise well beyond her years would answer my beseeching sister by saying “everything in moderation.” Now this is not the answer my poor suffering sibling wanted to hear, but I still believe her mantra is the best approach to healthy eating.

You indicated that you are looking to diet as well as eat healthy. When I need to drop a few, I usually turn to soups that are filling but low in calories to form the foundation a few meals a week. Some of my favorites are:
Chicken Egg Drop Soup Spinach and Lentil Soup Ox Tail Soup Harira Soup and even Minted English Pea Soup You can find more delicious soups at GreatGrub, but try and avoid the cream based ones for the time being. (And if you need to lose more than a few pounds consult your doctor first)

But soups can only go so far. For the next step I would recommend shopping for organic and locally grown fruits and vegetables. The fruit and veg grown locally will taste better because it is fresh and it won’t need to be smothered with globs of butter. The changing seasons will allow for a healthy variety. Always steam veg when plausible or par boil. Some of my favorite veg recipes are:
Beans Almondine Shocked Broc! Steamed Rapini Steamed Broccoli Roasted Asparagus Blanched Okra Rocket and Watercress Salad For your main courses try and avoid an excess of carbs such as pastas and breads -- but only to a point. Here are some of my favorite recipes that fall into the "healthy" category:
Chinese salmon steak Summer flank steak Pan fried tofu with lemon, chili and snow peas Roast Chicken Steamed white fish with lemon
Pasta with olive oil, garlic and broccoli (you gotta have some pasta) Red miso ginger glazed salmon Keep your side dishes simple. Avoid dishes like mashed potatoes and gratins loaded with cheese. Some of my favorite recipes for side dishes are:
      Israeli Couscous Mum’s roast potatoes
Blue Moon Rocket Salad For snacks and dessert stick to fruits and avoid sugary/salty processed foods as much as possible. You will find a wealth of tasty treats at the farmers markets or in the fruit section of your grocery store. Some of my seasonal favorites are:
Dates Figs Dried apples Regular apples Oranges Mandarin oranges Blood oranges Grapes Bananas I like to cook with my wife and even my young kids. The time cooking together in the kitchen is the first step to healthy eating. If you don’t have time during the week, then make the time over the weekend. Soups in particular are easy to prepare in advance.

And if you are into soda’s you can forget about artificial sweeteners. A recent study at Purdue University discovered that those who eat artificial sweeteners ended up gaining more weight then those who don’t eat them. Stick to water, you’ll be better off.

Finally, don’t think of food as the enemy. Healthy eating begins with a healthy attitude. I believe that a healthy attitude begins with my mothers oft repeated saying "everything in moderation." A few years ago some friends came back from a trip to France. The dollar was doing better then it is now, but still they thought they were getting ripped off. In every restaurant in which they dined they noticed that they were being served their main courses on appetizer plates. They were about to complain when they realized that everybody was being served on smaller plates. And then it hit them -- everything in America is bigger from our cars, to our homes, to our portions to our waistlines. I for one believe that the smaller plates are the secret to the French paradox. The wine is good to be sure, but I give the credit to good old fashioned common sense.

  10. QUESTION:
healthy meal plans with receipes and grocery list?
i need to make a change in my eating habits.
    thanks.

    • ANSWER:
If you are serious, first get yourself a calender with big squares from Staples. The cheap Generic calender will work, you need to write the day and date and month on each page.
Fill in by day what the menu plan will be for supper.
Once you write the supper for each day, you will then be able to get together the recipe for the food and then you can write up a shopping list for ingredients you need to buy for making that recipe for your meal.
It's a process. Meal- recipe- ingredient shop list. This is one way to organize for a week at a time.

    • ANSWER:
      Congratulations on your new baby!

I recommend checking out the recipes in the EatRealGood meal planner. If you're having any food intolerances, or if your baby is through your breastmilk, then you can pick only recipes that are gluten-free or dairy-free. You enter what produce you have on hand from your CSA or plan on buying in a store sale, then plan your recipes around that. They are all healthy/fresh/natural recipes.

  16. QUESTION:
Do you know any healthy meal plans?
My husband and I want to lose some weight and I have no clue how to start cooking healthier, plus I dont know what the portions should be, I know yougurt is a good snack but thats about it any advice?

    • ANSWER:
a good diet should consist of only nutritional foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, eggs, etc.. eat common things, but in a more healthier way. like spaghetti for instance.. try getting a whole grain spaghetti noodles with a sauce of your choice that is low in fat (which most are) add shrimp and fresh cilantro. just avoid things loaded with sugar and empty calories. there are tons of recipes online just search for them and if you really want to lose weight just eat right, exercise, and drink plenty of water. also, make sure you always have something healthy to snack on between meals.

And BTW i'm a teenage girl.
    *healthy foods*

    • ANSWER:
Without knowing what sort of things you like, I can only give a few ball park suggestions. The basic mantra of anyone trying to lose weight is fresh fruit and veg, protein such as meat, chicken and fish, and carbohydrates such as wholewheat pasta, rice, and wholemeal bread.
Generally, if you want to be active, you'll find that smaller meals more often will be the best way as it has been proven that your body slows down after a big meal as it needs to put the energy towards digesting the recent meal.
I like a high fibre cereal for breakfast with fruit on top and soya milk. (I find soya milk is more filling than cow's milk and doesn't give me a sore tummy first thing in the morning but stick to what you prefer as it's your diet at the end of the day).
I only get one break during the day so I have to eat at one time but if your able to, I'd go for a few pieces of fruit with a pot of (again, soya) yogurt as a mid morning snack, for lunch, a salad with plenty of leafy greens, tomato, cucumber, capsicum (or peppers depending on which country you come from), carrot, sprouts such as alfalfa or broccoli sprouts (or whatever you like) some cheese and some freshly grilled chicken. I like adding some cajun spice to my chicken as it gives it a nice little flavour without piling on the calories.
The mid afternoon snack can be something devine like Strawberries and Balsamic vinegar (don't knock it till you've tried it, it's amazing) I've got to have a bit of chocolate as well. (Always go for the high end chocolate. Don't waste that one morsel on cheap and nasty chocolate. Go for the good stuff).
As for dinner, go for the grilled option as it's far healthier. Perhaps a bit of fish or lean meat. Steamed veggies are great. (Just don't oversteam them as they will lose they're lovely flavour) Have some new potatoes with a knob of butter and a little sauce on the side (what is life without the little luxuries).
As you can see, there is plenty of fruit and veg. It should always be the first thing that you reach for. Bolster that with lean meats, fish and chicken. There is ALWAYS room for a few treats. We only put on the weight when we forget that they are just treats rather than main meals. Stay away from processed and sugary foods as these will offer you little nutritional value and will only make you hungry faster. Don't stick to this everyday. Use the fruit and veg as a basis and create your meals around it. There is a wealth of healthy recipes on the internet. They don't necessarily have to be low fat, they just need to be filled with real, healthy food.
Hope this gives you some ideas. Have fun, experimentation with different foods is the key to sticking with it. Keep it the same and you'll just get bored.
      Have fun

    • ANSWER:
1 Dietary control and exercise. It’s true what they say - all you need to do is watch what you eat, and expend more energy than you consume. It’s really that simple. You can quit reading this list now, you now know everything you need to know and didn’t need to fork over 0 for the privilege of me telling you the secret of losing weight. You don’t need to read a 4,000 page book, you don’t have to buy a tape series, you don’t need to stay up late at night to watch infomercials to understand this basic premise. It’s 100% true.

2 Change your lifestyle. If you’re calling this a “diet,” then you’re going to gain all the weight back (and more) within a few months of losing it. Diets do not work. Diets are temporary. When you change your dietary lifestyle, however, you’re changing your habits - and you’re putting yourself on track for long-term / continued success and weight maintenance. Don’t ever tell anybody you’re on a diet - ever. I’m speaking from experience, here - a reformed low-carber. Worked out well for a while, but ultimately failed because my entire lifestyle didn’t change (permanently).

3 Join an online support group. In my case, I created my own - FatBlasters. It’s essential that you not feel alone, and reaching out to friends (new or old) is typically a smart move. I just heard about PeetTrainer, but didn’t know about it when I began down the road to weight loss. You have to know that others are out there for moral support - they know things that you couldn’t possibly know, and they’ve probably been “in your shoes” at some point in the past (or present). Share stories, laughter, tears, successes, and failures - share them. There are thousands of communities out there, so keep looking until you find the one that fits you.

4 Take before and after photos. I know it sucks to see yourself as a chunky monkey (sorry, that’s what I called myself - if only to get myself motivated to meet my weight loss goal). However, there’s no easier way to illustrate your progress. The “after” photos are far more fun to capture and share, admittedly. Find yourself on Flickr! It’s good to see yourself how others see you. Do you like how you look? In many ways, Flickr helped me lose weight.

5 Hire a substitute teacher. Don’t reach for the brands you know and love immediately - or without thinking first. Eggs are “good” for you, but consider using egg substitutes instead (in fact, many restaurants will let you order lower calorie foods). There are countless “lower” alternatives for you to try. If something different doesn’t taste good, by all means - find a better substitute, or eat less of the original. In some cases, the substitute may be worse for you than the regular version of the product. The good news is, healthier choices are silently replacing their “normal” counterparts - and they taste just as nice.

6 Start reading labels. I know it sucks, but you have to do it - and there’s no way to avoid this tip. If you don’t know what you’re putting in your mouth, you’re flying blind. Don’t assume, either - triple-check the ingredients list and serving sizes. You must rely on yourself for this; nobody else is going to be able to lose the weight or do the math for you. It’s not that complicated a task, but it will require effort. If nothing else, just pay attention to the calorie count.

7 If you like cheese, you must buy the Laughing Cow brand, and keep several of the suckers in stock at all times. The individually-wrapped wedges make for excellent snacks, and are wonderful when melted over just about anything edible. I’d be careful about straight-up American cheese, though - it’s oil, but not necessarily as good for you as (say) a slice of cheddar would be. I have yet to find something as calorie-light and filling as Laughing Cow (I don’t know how they do it).

8 Tell your family. You’re not going to lose the weight alone, even if you ARE alone in losing the weight. If you’ve got a family at home, talk to them about it - initially, not incessantly. Let them know what you’re going to do, and that you want (and need) their support. If you don’t let them know, you’re running the risk of them inadvertently sabotaging your efforts. You want them to help you get to your goal(s). You want them to share in your happiness when you’ve made it past a certain mark. Who knows? Maybe some of your new habits will rub off on them and they’ll become healthier people, too?

  24. QUESTION:
I need some information on some really good Healthy Meal Plans? Any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
Having healthy meal plans is starting to avoid meats that contain large amounts of fat since they contain high cholesterol which is obviously bad for the heart. Also, avoid eating junk food because it has no nutritional value and the body doesn’t receive any benefits from it. Many foods including soft drinks have replaced the sugar with high fructose corn syrup. Foods containing high fructose corn syrup do not give you the sensation of being full like foods with regular sugar. This means most people will over eat foods containing high fructose corn syrup.

Making healthy meal plans doesn’t mean that there’s no flavor in the food that you will be eating. There are many recipes to choose from that offer a wide variety of flavors and tastes that are enjoyable for everyone.

Most of this common sense but it is amazing how many people don't follow this.

  25. QUESTION:
Is there a website that has healthy meal plans?

I want to try it out and see if I can cook :P Thank you very much for your help. • ANSWER:
Hey! It's me again :-) Lol!

It's unhealthy to lose more than 2 or so pounds a week, so this could take a good 8 - 10 weeks. It's not easy trying to lose weight - trust me, I would know! - But you CAN do it if you put your mind to it and push yourself enough.

Firstly, weight-loss requires both healthy-eating AND excercise. You should be getting an hour or so of excercise, at least 3 times a week. Aim for 4 - 5, which would be 4 - 5 hours of excercise a week. I like to go on long, fast walks which usually go for an hour for me. Bring your iPod or an MP3 if you have one - this really helps keep me motivated. If you have a dog, bring him/her. If you live around a park/oval, run around there a few times. Sprinting for 30 seconds followed by jogging/walking for 15 and back to the sprinting, etc, will help you burn more calories/fat than doing sprinting/jogging alone.

      SNACKS:
A small handful of raw, unsalted almonds. Almonds are healthy because they contain a lot of protein, which helps you to feel fuller for longer. They are high in fat, but there are *good* fats and *bad* fats - fortunately, Almonds contain the *good* fat. The type that will improve your hair and nails. Even though they contain good fats, they are still not good to have in large amounts because they can still make you gain weight. 8 - 12 Almonds equals one serving.

Pizza Muffins - Break an English Muffin in half, add some tomato paste/sauce, a light sprinkle of low-fat or no-fat Cheese, lots of veggies, followed by another light sprinkling of cheese. Pop in the oven/grill until the cheese turns golden. Don't go crazy with the cheese - you want to lose weight, so use it sparingly.

A piece of wholemeal/wholegrain/rye toast with cottage cheese and fresh tomato. Cottage cheese is low in fat and tastes very good - the same goes for tomato. White bread is bad for you because most are very low in fibre, which encourages constipation. The *good* breads that I listed earlier have more fiber. Fiber absorbs more water during digestion, which makes everything digest more smoothly.

A healthy smoothie. Blend together some yummy fruit/fruits with some yoghurt, milk/fruit juice, and a teaspoon or two of honey (optional) and pour into a glass. The best fruits for a smoothie are Banana, Nectarine, Apricot, Peach, Berries, Mango and Kiwi Fruit. You *can* add frozen yoghurt, but it's actually not "healthy" per se. They add lots of sugar and other things into it to make it taste good, so don't get fooled just because it says on the packaging that it's good for you. Of course, it does make an excellent substitute for Ice Cream :-) I know it sounds weird, but adding a raw egg into your Smoothie adds in extra Protein, good fats and many vitamins and minerals. You *cannot* taste the egg in your smoothie! I promise! So, why skip it out if it'll do you good without even tasting it?

A piece of fruit (of course!). If you're bored of the usuall Apple, Banana and Orange business, maybe you could ask your Mum or Dad to bring home something different to try. If you live in the United States, Summer is coming up so there will be a lot more yummy fruits available: Apricots, Mangoes, Pineapple, Strawberries, Blueberries, Peaches, Plums, Watermelon and more! If you're closer to Winter, try Grapes, Pears and Tangerines. You can also eat vegetables as a snack, like Carrots, Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, pieces of Red Capsicum (sounds gross, but it's actually nice!) and also Broccoli. Sounds sort of weird, right? I personally don't like Broccoli on it's own, but a lot of people cut it into small pieces and eat it as it is! You can eat these vegetables with Hummus dip which is healthy because it is made from chickpeas. Or better yet - you can make your own! It's super-quick and easy to make. Here is a recipe: http://allrecipes.com.au/recipe/6888/hummus-dip.aspx

*Wholemeal* Pita Bread pockets, torn up, with Hummus Dip. You can break the pockets in half flat-way so you end up with two thin disks, then pop them on an oven tray and dry them out in a slow oven until crispy. When you take them out, let them cool for a minute or two before breaking them into "chips" which you can eat with the Hummus, a healthy Salsa Dip or even on their own. You might need Mum or Dad to help you with the oven temperature.

Homemade Trail Mix. You can make this by tossing together Pretzels, raw Nuts (prefferably Walnuts, Almonds and Cashews, which are the healthiest), Wholegrain cereal and, of course, dried fruits.

Homemade popcorn. This is very quick and easy to make, but you won't be using the butter-flavoured microwave packs! You can make your own by putting a medium-sized saucepan on the large gas hotplate, with the gas set on medium. In the bottom of the saucepan, drizzle in one teaspoon of Canola Oil or Olive Oil, followed by ONE tablespoon of unpopped popcorn kernels. Hold the saucepan lid on and shake it forward and backwards so the kernels get lightly covered in the oil. Now, place the saucepan on the heat with the lid still on and wait a few moments. The popcorn will start to pop, one kernel at a time, before they all go off. It's really fun to make, but you can't take the lid off (even slightly) because all of the heat inside is making the popcorn burst and letting cool air in will mean you'll have to shut it and wait all over again. It should only take a couple of minutes at the most to cook, and when the popping slows down to only a pop or two a second, you can turn the gas off and leave the saucepan on the stove (untouched) for a few moments to cool.

      BREAKFAST:
One egg, a couple of tablespoons of baked beans and a couple of pieces of raw or cooked tomato sandwiched together with two pieces of wholemeal/wholegrain/rye toast.

Baked beans on two pieces of wholemeal/wholegrain/rye toast.

A piece or two of fruit, chopped up, with no-fat ("diet") Yoghurt spooned over the top.

Wholegrain cereal with low-fat (or better - no-fat) Milk.

A healthy smoothie (mentioned under "Snacks" above).

Two pieces of wholemeal/wholegrain/rye toast with Peanut Butter, Cottage Cheese (with or without tomato) or Scrambled/Poached eggs. There are other toppings you can try - just look in your pantry/fridge and use your imagination. You can, of course, try these toppings on toast as a snack rather than just breakfast.

LUNCH: (I'm assuming you're in school, so you'd want ideas that are lunchbox-friendly!)
*Wholemeal* Pita Bread, torn up, with Hummus dip. You can spread it on the whole pieces of Pita Bread, roll it up and wrap it in Glad Wrap but it might be a little soggy by lunchtime, lol! Putting the Hummus in a seperate container is much better, in my opinion. You can also bring the "Chip" version of the bread, if you'd like.

Fruit Salad with "diet" Yoghurt. Like the bread and dip, I like to bring them in separate containers and mix them together right before I eat. Yoghurt comes in single-serve containers, so that makes it a lot easier!

Tuna Salad. This one is super-easy and very, very healthy. Make up your usual salad:
      Lettuce and/or Spinach Leaves
      Tomatoes (regular or Cherry)
      Cheese cubes (Low-fat or no-fat.)
Avocado (like nuts, they are good for you but high in fat, so don't go crazy.
1/2 an Avocado is a serving, but 1/4 is enough in a salad.)
A few tablespoons of canned Peas and Corn (despide being Vegetables, these are actually high in carbs - Potatoes, too - so unlike most other veggies, eating these three in very large portions wouldn't be considered healthy.)
      Capsicum (Red is the sweetest)
      Cucumber
      Celery
A few thin slices of Red onion (optional, of course)
...And toss in one small can of Tuna! I like to drizzle some low-fat Mayonnaise over the top to help bind everything together but that's optional. Make sure the canned Tuna is in Springwater, not oil or anything else. Also, drain it very well before you pour it in to make sure it's not all watery (Yuck!) You can have this salad without Tuna, or even switch the Tuna with Chicken for variety :-) Again, you might like to toss in the Tuna and Mayo during lunchtime, just so it tastes fresher. You could even mix the Tuna and Mayo together at home and bring the mixture in a container.

Soup in a flask, or in a container to get heated up in the Cafeteria/Canteen or (if you're lucky) the Staff-Room. Then again, you could even have it cold! This is a very easy food to bring.

Dinner leftovers are another easy meal to bring to school/work. Ask Mum or Dad to make a little extra for lunch tomorrow. Freezing healthy leftovers is great, too, because they're more-likely to dash out to get take-away if they're too tired to cook. If there's a container of spaghetto bolognaise sauce in the freezer, all they need to do is defrost it and pour it over some pasta. It's so easy, you could do it yourself! Other freezable Dinners are Soups, Stews, Shepherd's Pie, Meatloaf, Casserole and Tuna/Chicken Mornay.

      DINNER:
      Quiche
Burritos (made with light Mince, wholemeal Burrito Bread, low-fat or no-fat Cheese and extra-light Sour Cream.) Refried Beans are incredibly healthy - I like to mix this with the cooked meat mix.
      Stuffed Capsicums.
Your parents will probably sort dinner out at least most nights. If you're making your own Dinner, try the Breakfast and Lunch ideas I suggested. Most of them are very quick and easy!

I hope this helped! Sorry it was so long! Good luck :-)

I workout at 4:00 a.m. every morning and don't get home from work until 6:30 p.m. Can anyone help me figure out a good and healthy meal plan that will keep me going all day?

    • ANSWER:
Can you give a little more information.

How much time do you have for cooking?

Do you eat out? Take a lunch to work?

I'll assume you are busy and have modest cooking skills.

Try baked beans for breakfast. There are several great varieties in a can or you could use your own recipe in a crockpot. This is an old tradition for busy Saturdays. Beans really stick to your ribs as the saying goes.

      breakfast
      Baked beans
orange slices or cantalope or grapefruit or banana

      Morning snack
      crunchy apple and or carrot

      Take your Lunch?
Peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat bread.
can of V8 try the low sodium .
      rasins or dried cranberries
Option 2 Grilled cheese on whole wheat.
      V8
      dried apples or apricots.

If you eat out limit fried foods.

Afternoon snack. Graham crackers and a glass of milk.
      or Nuts and fruit

      Dinner

Baked potato white or sweet easy on fat
      (or Brown Rice )
choice of fish, chicken, most days
(Once a week lean beef. Once a week lean pork. )

Method of prepartion is very important. Baking, poaching, roasting and stewing are all much healthier than frying.

2 Serving of steamed vegetables .... your favorites
Large tossed salad with lots of bell peppers, red and green .
Add onion and cucumber and of course tomato

Spaghetti and Pizza with the trimmings are options 2 or three times a month.

  34. QUESTION:
What is a good, healthy meal plan for one day for a petite 15 year old that's vegetarian?
i'm a dancer so i need a healthy meal plan!
PLEASEE ANSWER! I WILL GIVE YOU TEN POINTS!

    • ANSWER:
Hi. My sister is a Vegetarian and she plays volleyball and soccer for the school. I don't know to much about a typical healthy diet for vegetarians but I always see her eat so healthy.
Be sure to eat plenty of Fruits, Veggies, Nut and Legumes(beans).

When it comes to eating Fruit don't go overboard otherwise you could end up with much sugar in your body as if you were eating a candy bar. Veggies are endless. The possibilities are endless. Just don't limit yourself to a salad everyday. You could make like a veggie platter for dinner. You don't have to follow this. You make your own routine. This is a typical day for my sister

      Breakfast:
Multi-Grain Cheerios w/ Soy Vanilla Milk
      Fresh Fruit
      OJ

      Lunch:
      Fresh Garden Salad or
      Vegetarian Chicken Sandwich or Burger
(you can buy those Boca or Morning Star Farms at the store)

      Dinner:
Pasta Primavara(Pasta, veggies such as carrots, broccoli)

You don't have to follow this. But just keep it simple. Things like Fruits, Veggies, plenty of water and be sure to talk a multivitamin.

  35. QUESTION:
    Healthy meal plans for toddlers?
I'm running out of ideas. I have a picky eater!

    • ANSWER:
So do I! My son is 2 1/2 and can be VERY picky for a few days & then he'll eat everything in sight at other times. He tends to be VERY picky with veggie's but I continue to put them on his plate anyways alongside his regular food & figure eventually he'll try it. What I do is dip brocolli, cauliflower, zucchini & mushrooms in a beaten egg yolk & then roll it in instant potato flakes that are mixed with some grated parmesan cheese & bake it & he'll literally eat a plate of this (if you want the recipe for this I can send it to you, let me know). My son likes rice pasta with tomato sauce (you can even grate some carrots & mix it in the sauce & also sprinkle some ground flax seed in the sauce). Some other foods my son likes are: meatballs, avacado, cooked mushrooms, grapefruit (believe it or not), dry cereal as a snack, raisins, organic krispy rice bars (like rice krispy squares but healthy), organic plain popcorn (it's actually high in fibre), blueberries & raspberries when he's in the mood, he also likes muffins so I started making bran ones & he actually loves them. If your toddler will only eat certain foods just try to find the healthiest versions of them as you can. E.g. you could make your own french fries with organic potatoes & sweet potatoes with some olive oil, sea salt & pepper & bake them in the oven. You can even find multi-grain chicken nuggets in the frozen organic section of the supermarket & most kids love them. I know how frustrating it is to have a picky eater but just remember..you're not alone...I think every parent can relate to having a picky eater at some point. Best of luck though!

  38. QUESTION:
What is a healthy but cheap meal plan for losing weight?
I really want to thank you for the advice you guys are giving me..it helps me stay motivated.. What do you consider to be a healthy meal plan that can help me with my weight loss and i could afford.. Thank you for reading my question ...(:

    • ANSWER:
Unfortunately, eating healthy can't be done cheap. The cheapest foods out there are prepackaged things that rely heavily on corn syrup and other corn products, because corn is so cheap (due to government subsidies). Also, a great deal of prepackaged foods are infused with excessive sodium, which causes you to retain water weight.

The best way to start eating healthier is to simply avoid "easy" things that are ready to eat or just need microwaving. It should take at least a little effort from you, like making a sandwich or grilling some chicken. This isn't necessarily going to be cheaper, though.

However, in the long run, eating healthier reduces your health care costs, does less damage to the environment, and makes you happier, so you might want to consider things other than monetary cost as you decide what to eat. Personally, in my household, we spend less on entertainment by canceling cable (we already have internet, DVDs, and a game system, and what else do you need?). We then use the extra money to buy locally pastured meats from farmers, and organic produce. What are your priorities?

  46. QUESTION:
Can anyone tell me a healthy meal plan?
I am a 15 year old girl. I am 5'4 and 125 pounds. I know I am not fat. I am just trying to get healthy and loose about 10 pounds of extra fat. If possible I would like to do this without excersising but im sure it will result in that lol. Can anyone give me a meal plan to help me loose this weight? Please remember I have to go to school and do not have microwaves/ovens at lunchtime.
    Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
5 small meals a day. I'd probably suggest

Breakfast: Oatmeal (real oats... not the packaged flavored kind) with berries (berries fill you up and add flavor to the oatmeal) You could also try a cereal that's high in fiber with berries (fiber fills you up also so you're fully satisfied until the next meal)

Snack: Try healthy snacks like fruit salad or veggies and dip

Lunch: WHOLE GRAIN BREAD! This will provide you with long lasting energy so eat this. You can use this for sandwiches, or spread some jam or peanut butter on it. And have a piece of fruit with it as well like an apple or banana. I also love eating crackers with cheese for lunch, or tuna salad on crackers! YUM!

Snack: For my afternoon snack I eat something light so it won't spoil my dinner. I suggest a cup of yoghurt, a healthy granola bar that's low in sugar, 100 calorie snack packs work well if you're really desperate for something sweet and yummy! :)

Dinner: Drink a cup of water before dinner because it helps fill your stomach up so you can control your portions. For dinner do NOT overdo it on carbs. Do NOT stuff your face with breads or pasta or rice. Instead, fill your plate with veggies and your serving of meat should be equal to the size of the palm of your hand. avoid anything fried, instead bake or grill!

Dessert: For dessert I LOVE fruit salads or yoghurt.

Remember to lose weight you need to be eating less calories than you burn... so basically BURN MORE CALORIES THAN YOU EAT! that is the only way to lose weight. 3500 calories = 1 pound of fat so to lose 10 pounds of extra fat you'd need to burn 35 000 calories. So yeah, exercise is definitely required to lose fat. Cardio works best, like walking or biking everywhere instead of driving or taking the bus, running burns a ton of calories and so does swimming, dancing, etc.

      Hope I helped :)

  50. QUESTION:
Healthy meal plans and eating habits?
Hi I am 15, 5 foot 9, 175 lb (overweight) and am just thinking about my meal plans and eating habits, looking for some opinions.

In all honesty, these are just habits that started happening.

    So anyways, here it is...

During the week, I will usually have a "large breakfast (Bagel w/ very light butter and 2% milk) every other day (so usually, 2 or 3/5 days of the school week). The other days I am just not hungry at all, its not like I am starving myself or anything. On the days where I don't have a large breakfast like that, I have one of those "carnation instant breakfasts" and sometimes (only sometimes) a granloa bar. On weekends, I will usually have that same large breakfast, a bagel and milk.

Every weekday, I do not have lunch. Too much of a hassel in my opinion, and I am usually not hungry. At lunch, I will always have a water bottle and rarley a bag of pretzals.

Sorry, I need more room to put this, so I will add additional info.
I will usually have a healthy snack at some point in the day, usually when I get home.

Oh yeah, for lunch on the weekends I usually have something.

95% of the time I will have dinner, ranging anywhere from a small cup of soup to a large plate with chicken and a potato (these are just examples).

So will this really have any downsides or anything. I am just not hungry alot and sometimes will only eat at dinner.

Hi, what exactly are you looking for? It's good that you're not forcing yourself to eat when you're not hungry, that's the problem of a lot of people is that they just mindlessly eat. You seem to be eating healthy. The only problem might be that you're not getting enough calories on a daily basis which would cause your body to go into starvation mode, slowing your metabolism. If you're not big into 3 square meals a day, it's healthy to eat 5 or 6 small meals. There are lots of sites with good facts of how much you should get in each meal. http://www.healthyeating.net/he_1.htm is just one. Make sure you're getting protein, carbs, and fat at each meal. You should also try for a complex carb, like whole wheat bread and brown rice, white bread is a simple sugar so it's like eating a cookie...spike in blood sugar that crashes down faster. Complex carbs help maintain your blood sugar levels without major spikes. I would try to figure out what your basic metabolism needs are then figure out how many cals you're getting a day. If it's not enough, I'd try to eat a few more smaller meals a day...add a yogurt, a piece of fruit, a granola bar, etc. Hope this helps some!
