These are a few tips that will help you enjoy a healthy meal during the holidays:
1. Start your meal with soup as your appetizer. Research shows that people who eat soup regularly lose more weight than people who don’t.
2. Thicken your soup and sauces with cornstarch instead of cream. Cornstarch is very low in calories. One tablespoon of cornstarch contains 30 calories and 0 gram fat. In many occasions, you will only need two tablespoons of cornstarch to replace one cup of cream. One cup of cream contains 580 calories and 60 grams of fat so if you use cornstarch instead of cream, you will reduce 520 calories and 60 grams of fat from your soup.
3. Eat a healthy staple food. After the low-carb diet craze, it seems like Americans don’t know what a staple food is, let alone a healthy staple food. In Asia, people always eat their dishes with a healthy staple food which is big in volume but low in calorie content. This kind of food makes us full while contributing a small amount of calories. Rice is a healthy staple food because it is rich in water content. Seventy percent of the volume of steamed rice is just water. So when you eat rice with your dishes, you will feel full quicker, thus prevent you from overeating. The healthiest type of rice is brown basmati rice. Brown basmati is rich in fiber and resistant starch. According to experts while 1 gram of carbohydrate gives us 4 calories, 1 gram of fiber and resistant starch give us anywhere between 0-3 calories. In addition to that, fiber and resistant starch help control our blood sugar level and satiety.
4. Drink plain tea, water or diet drinks. Many people watch what they eat but they don’t realize that they consume a lot of calories from their drinks. A 12 fluid ounces of soda or juice contains about 150 calories which is equal to 6 Hershey kisses. Most people drink three to four cups of soda or other caloric drinks every day which is equal to about one bag of Hersey kisses!
5. If you serve salad, make sure that you use low calorie dressings. Many people who go on a “salad diet” become frustrated because even though they eat healthy all the time, they still don’t lose weight. A small 2 oz package of ranch dressings contains 170 calories and 15 grams of fat which has almost as many calories as 7 Hersey kisses.
6. Boiled corns and yams are healthy side dishes because they are rich in good carbs and fiber and they are very low in fat content; one ear of corn or 1 medium sized yam contains less than 1 gram of fat. Corn and yam are naturally sweet so you don’t have to add sweetener, oil, or fats to make them tasty. And since they are not processed foods, they are rich in water content and fiber which will make you feel bulky and full with fewer calories than processed foods.
7. Serve fruit for dessert. Fresh fruits are rich in water, fiber and very low in calories. Most fruits contain 0 grams of fat, making fruit to be the healthiest dessert on the table.

QUESTION:
Eating healthy?
I don't know why this is so easy for others, but so tough for me. I work full-time, and hate cooking. I usually eat a lot of carbs (bagels, breads, sandwiches, etc) because it is the quickest and easiest thing for me to eat everyday. I also have a hard time thinking of how to eat my daily fruits and veggies. The only way I can think of cooking veggies is steaming them, and that gets so boring after a while. Does anyone have any good ideas/suggestions for eating healthy on a regular/daily basis, getting my fruits and veggies in and eating a balanced diet, without spending hours in the kitchen everyday?-
ANSWER:
If you are eating a lot of wheat products, make sure you are eating the most whole-grain product you can find, e.g. breads with oats and other non-wheat grains added, whole wheat bread, bagels, spaghetti, etc. Also, see if you can fit beans and brown rice into your schedule. Invest in a crock pot to cook dry beans; some beans like lentils don't even need long term cooking. A crock pot is also good for stews and such.
As for fruits and veggies, you don't need to cook them - they are actually better for you raw. If you don't like raw veggies? I think you're better off with veggies in salad dressing than no veggies at all, but you could also try salsa, cocktail sauce, ketchup, maybe even mustard as a veggie dip. You can find a lot of pre-cut and washed veggies in the supermarket which takes a lot of the time out of cooking.
Also, get some herbal/spice mixes and use them liberally in cooking.

QUESTION:
eating healthy?
I want to start eating healthy but my whenever I try to my stomach or taste buds reject it. Is there a way to change this?-
ANSWER:
Eating healthy will not occur over night. First start by cutting out sodas and sugary drinks. You should mostly consumer water and 100% fruit juice. If you're big on soda, than try cutting down slowly.. cut your normal intake in half. Then, slowly start getting rid of junk food such as candy, chips, etc. Replace those foods that you are snacking on between meals with fresh fruits and veggies, although every once in a while these foods are fine as long as they're in moderation! Don't eat the whole bag of chips, eat 1 serving instead. Eventually, i'm sure you will start to find that healthy food too can be satisfying. Good luck!

I am 16 years old and I want to start eating healthy. I am not eating bad now, I would say average but it is impossible for me to eat at a good time because my mom works in the afternoon.I do cook myself but if I don't feel inspired or motivated it is really difficult so it is definitely not an everyday thing.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this?

Its fun and surprizing! and just make what she makes! haha if you dont have all the ingrediants then record the show, and if you can record it, record what she did and what she used, then make it the next night! She always stays on the healthy and hearty side

QUESTION:
How do i start eating healthy as a teenager?
Okay so, I am 14 years old and i want to start eating healthy. I'm not overweight or anything i just wanna stop choosing junk food over veggies or fruits. When i try and eat veggies it feels like i'm gonna throw up but i don't know what to do. The only veggies i do like are Cucumbers, Carrots & Tomatoes. Anything else I can't eat. So, how do I start eating healthy? I'd really like to start so when I go to restaurants i'm not eating just burgers. Thanks
-
ANSWER:
It can be difficult, especially when you hang out with people who like to eat junk food and things like that. I suggest sticking with the veggies you enjoy and then branching out gradually as you get use to eating them regularly. When you go out to restaurants try ordering salads. These days they have lots of options so you are not just eating leafy greens and a dab of dressing. For example I recommend the chicken Caesar salad: Parmesan cheese, strips of chicken (grilled or breaded), croutons and Caesar dressing. Also you can substitute french fries for broccoli or a baked potato. Also if you're not big on fruit try fruit cups. It's a small portion and might be easier to eat as a snack. Good Luck

QUESTION:
how can i eat healthy in a junkfood eating family?
I am a high school student stuck in an unhealthy family trying to eat a healthy whole balanced diet. I hate white flour and sugar but that is the only thing that my family buys. Every time they buy it I tell them that I don’t use it and ask them to buy pure cane sugar or whole-wheat flour. Every time I try to tell them the benefits of a healthy wholesome diet, they get all pissed off and make me feel stupid. I want to quit eating factory bread and make homemade WHOLE WHEAT bread. I am also a vegan and my dad is a dairy farmer. They always eat and drink things like soda, chips, and desserts. I want to cut off using peanut butter that has sugar and hydrogenated oils but that’s all that they buy. How can I convince my family to eat healthy? I am trying to get a job to buy my own food but the economy sucks here and there are no jobs. Also whenever my family buys fruits and vegetables I eat them all and they get angry with me.-
ANSWER:
We feel your pain. Perhaps you can set up special supplies for yourself (whole wheat bread, brown rice, etc.) then prepare to supplement according to their menu plan for the week. When they make sandwiches, make your own healthy substitutions. When they make a dish that has a starchy side, make a pot of brown rice enough to cover the meal and any leftovers. It might be no use trying to convert them to healthier foods, which often cost more, but at least see if you can 'fend' for yourself. But I'm sure if you made homemade whole wheat bread, no one would complain after you did it...the smell will change their mind.
You can also check for food co-ops in your area, where the family pays a set price for fresh vegetables (I think they are even delivered to you)...it's economical; however, you have no say in what fresh vegetables you will get...it's whatever was in abundance...but it's farm fresh and you are supporting local farmers.

QUESTION:
How can I get myself to stop eating junk and start eating healthy?
I'm 15 and im at a normal weight and I have a fast metabolism so no matter how much junk I eat I dont gain weight. My problem is that because I have to cook for myself and never feel like cooking, fast food is more convenient for me. I'm kind of a vegitarian so i'm really picky with my meats. I rarely ever get any protein. In a day all I will usually eat is candy and then french fries for dinner and im completly satisfied with that but everyone tells me if I continue to eat that way I'll be lucky to make it to 25. I know I need to eat healthy but I cant stick with that for more then a day. What should I do? I have no one to motivate me and keep me on track of eating healthy so I will give in to junk.
I am aware that I make poor choices when it comes to eating so I am trying to change my ways and eat healthier.-
ANSWER:
I used to be like you. I had a lot of junk food everyday and usually ate nothing healthy. Try eating fruits, grains, beans, vegetables and possibly meat if you can. Take multivitamins daily as well. If you can't stand think about your health. That's what I did.

QUESTION:
How do I go from eating fastfood everday to eating healthy?
I'm 18 200 pounds I eat fast food everyday I want to stop that and eat healthy but I'm worried that if I do I won't get that full feeling I get from eating fast food. And then I will keep eating unhealthy.-
ANSWER:
you can get full from other things than fast food, pasta for example. Something I make a lot at home is whole wheat pasta with veggies with lemon and a little bit of olive oil, my boyfriend and I like it a lot and it is healthy and filling. Also make sure you have healthy foods at home (veggies, fruits, soybeans, almonds, etc) so when you feel like a snack you dont go out and get fast food. Oatmeal is another healthy food that fills you up.In general try to eat slower and pay attention to when your body is saying "I'm full!" and remember you don't have to be stuffed to the max. Hope this helps!

QUESTION:
What are some tips for eating fast food in a healthy way?
I work full time and go to graduate school full time and find myself eating on the go. I don't have a lot of time to exercise, but I do make time to go for walks to relax and get outside once in a while. As a result, I feel myself not having the same figure I did even a year ago. I'm not overweight, I just don't always feel so good eating bad things all the time, and I feel my clothes tightening a bit. Any tips on how to eat on the go but still eating healthy? Any tips on how to do simple things to exercise too? Like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.-
ANSWER:
For breakfast, instead of doughnuts or bread/pastry/danish and coffee, try eating an apple. It is very healthy and works better than coffee in waking you up.For brunch or lunch, add a banana to your normal diet. Again, it is healthy and easy to carry. It should replenish you as the day goes on.
Try eating dinner early. It is better to eat dinner early than late. Your body will appreciate it.
If you can, try drinking anti-oxidant drinks once in a while. Naked Juice is a good one. This will cleanse your body of the bad stuff that junk food brings.
As for keeping the weight off, Yes, do take the stairs. If you take the stairs regularly, you will burn a lot of calories. As you do it more often, you will learn that you have more energy than before.
Also, keep going on those walks. It'll help you gather your thoughts and keep you sane throughout the school year.
GOOD LUCK!

QUESTION:
What are some tips for healthy eating and gradual weight loss?
As of tomorow i want to start eating really healthily and avoid snacking on bad things like crisps and chocolate. Id also like to loose a few pounds.Do you have any tips on eating healthy?-
ANSWER:
Try calorie shifting, the idea behind the diet is to instead of avoiding food, embrace it and use it to your benefit to improve your metabolism. This way you'll actually continue to burn fat even once you stop the diet. The major problem with all diets that limit your calorie intake is that they as a result weaken and lower the effect of your metabolism on the foods you eat and actually make your body much more prone to storing calories as a result. Much like when an animal goes into hibernation, your body will go into scarcity mode and begin holding onto anything it can.
That's the main reason that people experience rebound effects from diets. Calorie shifting actually does it right because it changes the way your body utilizes food and as a result you lose weight and keep it off when you stop.
I'll throw in a link to a popular calorie shifting diet program in my source box for you to learn more about it.

QUESTION:
What can i do to begin having the habit of eating healthy?
I don't know if that is the right question, LOL. What I mean is I want to start eating healthy like vegetables and fruits, but I hate eating them. I'm 13, and every topic I read about there is always something about eating healthy. So I'm wondering if there are any tricks that I can do to either fight the bad taste or not taste it at all. I want to actually eat the vegetables and fruits.-
ANSWER:
well, your taste bud aren't used to them so they taste weird to them. You need to train your body. And if you keep telling yourself you don't like them - you're not going to! Just remind yourself of all the benefits of eating fruit and veg, and when you take a bite, close your eyes and savour the flavour and realise they aren't that bad at all. You could try putting low calorie sauces on top of your veggies for a while. I remembered when i hated all veg, but i used to force myself to eat them by putting mint sauce over them. Now i absolutely LOVE veggies, and it's my favourite meal!

QUESTION:
How can I convince my parents to start eating healthy?
I am 15 years old and I am overweigth blah blah blah. I am researching around and looking on how to eat healthy, because frankly, I have been eating hamburgers and chicken nuggets my whole life and I know I need to change. But my parents continue to buy hot dogs and ice cream bars, especially my dad. They are reluctant to change but I want to educate them on how to eat whole grains, vegetables, and friuts instead of all meat.
The problem is that they have to buy the right stuff so that I can eat it, because obviously, I can't go grocery shopping. My mom is currently on the atkins diets and I'm pretty sure its not working. How can I get her to eat healthy and buy the right stuff.
Kyle S you are not funny and no one is amused. Grow up!-
ANSWER:
Excellent!!!Start with bringing home some pamphlets about eating healthy, losing weight, controlling diabetes , preventing heart disease ... anything to do with living a healthy lifestyle. I threw diabetes in there because most people who are overweight develop diabetes, and getting a handle on your health now will be a huge factor in preventing heart disease and diabetes when you're an adult.
Start asking your mom to pick up fruits, vegetables, and whole grain bread for you, and make sure you eat those things FIRST, before you eat any of the junk food in the house.
Start making healthy choices for yourself when you go out - even fast food restaurants have healthier choices nowadays, including fruit cups and salads and fruit juices.
Start cooking on weekends or whenever you can. Ask them to pick up specific items, and then cook dinner or lunch or breakfast using those items. Practice with small amounts first, so you get some practice in and can be sure the food you are serving is edible
Someone else mentioned eating healthy yourself and criticizing your folks ... that is not the right way to handle things. Nobody likes being criticized. Try encouragement and serious discussions ... they are liable to be much more effective in the long run!
Throwing away food they spend their money on is also not likely to be very effective. However, asking Mom to prepare a healthy salad with the chicken nuggets instead of fries is a good compromise. So is eating a sandwich piled high with lettuce, tomatoes, or any other crunchy vegetable (sliced carrots, sliced zucchini, sliced cucumber, alfalfa sprouts, etc etc etc) alongside a handful of chips and dip or a couple of cookies. Making a conscious decision to make better choices while still using up the not-so-healthy foods in the house is a better decision than throwing away things behind your parents' back.

QUESTION:
Eating unhealthy is too easy. What's a good tip to make healthy eating easier to do?
Fast food restaurants are everywhere. If you're low on money and hungry, you have plenty of unhealthy options and you don't even have to get out of your car. But if you want to eat healthy, it takes much more effort. Does anyone have a good tip about how to make a healthy eating routine easier to accomplish?-
ANSWER:
The problem with fast food restaurants for the most part is even the "healthier" choices aren't that good. McDonalds uses Iceberg lettuce, the cheapest and lest beneficial kind.On the road, try to find a Subway or Mr. Sub. A more economical choice (an healthier) is to keep a stock of healthy foods in your car or purse. Try keeping ready-to-eat cans of tuna, granola bars or even a box of cereal in your car.
For at home, it's more than just what you eat, it's how you prepare what you eat. Don't fry your chicken, grill it. Buy lean cuts of meat, and eat less pork. Avoid bacon, but subsitute for chicken or turkey bacon. A great thing is grapeseed oil. It's cheaper, healthier and better tasting than your regular olive oil.
The most important thing is to be motivated. Set a goal, write it down, put it on a post-it note on your fridge, and stick to it. Find your incentive and think about it before you eat. Lastly, always eat breakfast even if it's a small one. It will boost your metabolism, as skipping breakfast for a year can result in more than 10 pounds of weight gain.

QUESTION:
How does eating healthy when you're young affect your future health?
I'm doing a PowerPoint for english class in trying to persuade other teens to not buy junk food and eat healthy! And I need to know how eating healthy affects your future health!-
ANSWER:
Eating poorly does a lot of things - any of these are bad - feel free to expand on the fact that if you get them when you're young, the longer your body will be living with these symptoms, the worse your health can be:Risk of premature death
High blood pressure
Increased adipose (fat) tissue
Therefore, Higher resting heart rate.
- (Someone who is healthy will have a heart rate that needs to beat about 25,000 - 40,000 times LESS per DAY than someone who isn't. - That's saving your heart 6 - 9 hours per day of beating time)
Increased bad Cholesterol (LDL) and decreased good cholesterol (HDL)
Increased risk of diabetes
Makes day to day activities more difficult.
- BODY image!! (<--- you want to strike at the heart of a teenager? Tell them they look like shit. Then tell them that a few years of this and they'll look like even bigger shit.) And that can affect them for life. Use someone in class who looks great as an example. ("Look at sharon.. she looks amazing. Do you think she has a complex?" - check with her first before doing that though.)
- Lower self-esteem
- Increased anxiety
- More susceptible to depression
- Over worked organs trying to regulate high sugar intakes etc. That's just a few. Good luck with the project.

QUESTION:
how can i start eating healthy when nothing sounds good?
im 15 weeks pregnant, i was doing so good on making sure i was eating healthy but as soon as i hit week14 i started eating like an out of control 1000 pound women. grilled chicken and veggies no longer sound good. i have been eating corn dogs and cup cakes. how do i get back to my healthy eating when it doesnt sound good at all? i still crave fruit but thats the only healthy thing i've been eating. its really important to me to eat healthy and i was a little overweight before getting pregnant so i want to keep my weight gain under control.-
ANSWER:
How about yogurt? Fruit was my major craving (they said that was a sign it would be a girl but they were WRONG!), so I found ways to work fruit into every meal. Yogurt and fruit, cereal and fruit, chicken with fresh pineapple, salads with fruit, fruit salads...it must have worked, because I only gained 25 lbs total, and I was a bit overweight to begin with, so I lost it all and then some when I gave birth. Another thing you might try is eat your fruit first, and wait a bit. If you're still hungry, THEN have that corn dog.Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy.

Has eating healthy and organic helped your family to not get the stomach virus/flu?
I have 2 toddlers and a husband and we started eating organic and whole foods about a year ago. This year we still seemed to get the stomach virus, but no one has thrown up at all. It just seems the stomach virus has been much much milder. Has anyone else experienced this? Could our healthy eating really be holding back the stomach virus?-
ANSWER:
I think you are lucky.
Eating a good mixed diet, good Hygiene and not getting stressed are two things that contribute to good health and resistance to disease.
Preparing your own meals with good ingredients certainly helps but good food doesn't have to be organic. The jury is still out on that one.I hope you continue to resist all viruses that lurk around.

i'm 16 and i don't eat a variety of foods. i'm sort of lazy so i tend to stick with pasta or cereal lol.i've gained a lot of weight from eating junk and pasta-- 5 pounds in the last month.
what kinds of food should i start eating to lose weight and eat healthy at the same time?
-
ANSWER:
First of all, stay away from pasta and such. The ingredients in there make you retain water more, which makes you heavier. Stick with anything low in sugar, salt, etc. Cereal can be good for you, depending on the type and brand. I hear Kellogg's Special K helps with weight loss. Just go grocery shopping and grab some low fat milk, cereal, meat (but be moderate with red meat), yogurt is really good, buy whole wheat bread, PB&J is what I eat for lunch along with string cheese even...it's not really hard just stay away from anything that's processed or from, say, McDonald's. You get my drift. OH! And drink lots of water! I also sometimes get those no-calorie pre-made drink packets sold in those tubes. Those are really good, and they have tons of flavors!

QUESTION:
How not to get bored with salads and eating healthy?
I really like salads, but after a while I get bored of them and then go back to eating the yummy fatty foods, greasy unhealthy foods. I love flavor. Every time I decide to try to eat healthier to get in shape and maybe loss wight I end up getting bored with the salads. I just need ideas on different salads and different EASY healthy food ideas for lunches to bring to work. I also want to start making healthy good tasting foods for my family of 7.-
ANSWER:
Hear hear. When Jennifer Gardner said she lost her baby weight by eating a salad every day for lunch I nearly gagged at how repulsive that sounded to eat something so boring every single day.The key is these two things: make sure your salad is filling so you don't finish it and then look through your cupboards for a candy bar and two, make sure your salad tests good so you don't finish it and then look through your cupboards for....a candy bar.
No matter what anyone says, romaine lettuce, iceberg, spinach, cos lettuce, arugula, etc doesn't really have much taste to them. But use that to your advantage. It means you can have a regular salad base and all the nutrients that come with the lettuce, but add different ingredients that can completely change the taste of the meal. Chicken versus ham and bacon bites; ranch dressing versus vinagearette, but the thing that I've found that can change the flavor is to add a bit of fruit to the salad. Strawberries are surprising fantastic. Cantaloupe, pears, grapes are all great, as well.
Also a fun way to get family to eat salad is to throw mini marshmallows into the mix. It seems to get them excited to chomp down searching for them.

QUESTION:
What is a good mentality that keeps you eating healthy forever?
:]
I know I put forever and it sounds weird, but I want to start eating healthy cause it will be no use if i exercise and keep eating wrong. How do I eat healthier?-
ANSWER:
Trust me once you get used to eating health food, probably at least a year and avoid eating sugar and stuff, you won't even think of turning back to the old crap. Once you get used to it your taste buds and everything change and the bad food doesnt appeal to you anymore. Also you feel healthy and look so good. And just thinking that right at the moment your body is taking in the nutrients it truly needs makes you feel good because you are taking care of your body and nourishing it everyday. Also the food is whole and untainted. It is not artificial and with manmade stuff into it, but is pure and will keep you living for a long long time and you feel healthy even when you are like 90.

Simple, you follow the example of your parents, ancestors or family, and what is taking place in your surroundings. If everyone in your household eats Cheesies, then so do you. QUESTION:
Food too much to make, I'm very dedicated to eating healthy 5-6 meals a day but it's too much work to prepare?
I cook eat whites, oatmeal, salad, chicken, fish , I have to eat 6 meals a day but it's difficult because it takes a long time to prepare I've resorted to eating tuna straight outta the can.
And I have protein shakes, are there any tips for meals that need little or no preparation that are healthy for you , Thanks!-
ANSWER:
Seems like your doing good as far as eating right.
I would recommend protein bars as well, they're quick, good, and easy.
Sometimes what I do for tuna, I make a big tuna salad with tomatoes, onions, olive oil, and lemon and just take a little each time I need to eat it. It lasts about 2 days, if you make a big batch and put it in the fridge.
It seems like you just need to make big amounts of foods so it can last you for a few days instead of having to cook each day.You can also buy a whole chicken, ready and hot to eat from any grocery store. Or if you have a Whole Foods grocery store near you, they have a really good food bar thats fresh, healthy, organic, and non-processed.
I get their tuna, chicken fajitas, as well as salad.Hope that helps and good luck!

QUESTION:
Does eating healthy help you become a better athlete and faster?
I am fourteen and I want to be the best player on my soccer team, I mostly want to be the fastest. I have been eating so many fruits and vegetables and jhust very healthy. I also have been drinking tons of water! (I also have been sticking too my regular diet as well) but I really want to become very fast, I already excersize daily and practice sprints, but will eating healthier help? also, how long will it take to loose the weight? and I have been peeing a lot lately because of all of the fruits, is this good?-
ANSWER:
Definetly eating healthy will help your athletic performance...I know this well because it happened to me
I play bball and I was pretty fast last year but over the summer I really decided that I was capable of so much more, so I regularly exercised and did weights and completely changed my diet to a healthy one for the best...I did this all during summer, and am continuing it right now, and i can happily say that Im close to like...peak athletic performance for a girl ;D.So yes, much more water will really help you if you keep upyour exercise, and especially the healthy eating...think about it: if you have a soccer gamet at night, and during the day you eat (poptarts and cinnabon for breakfast, snack on chips and choclate almonds, ssandwich with lots of mayo and cheese..im talkin like 7 slices or somethin lol, and a chocolate before ur game), i doubt you'll reach peak performance..so alternatively, you eat healthy
so you can go longer in practice, meaning much better overall performance. remember that you need to eat from each food group, some less than others (like fats and whatnot). and please make sure you eat a good amount of protein...lots of girls i noticed overlook this. i make homemade protein bars..u should do this if it would help.
you know, i just gotta say...we must be pretty dedicated to our sports to be doin all this, huh? for me, i know thats 110% true...keep it up girl!!

QUESTION:
What should I be eating if I want to eat healthy?
I recently found out my BMI (44) and was not to impressed. I've tried to eat healthy but quickly ran out of ideas. So, what should I be eating if I try to eat six meals a day (Small breakfast, small snack, small lunch, small snack, medium dinner) to improve my metabolism and lower my BMI from 44 to 22 or lower?List some things to eat and/or exercises/work-outs. Thanks!
-
ANSWER:
Forgot BMI. It's flawed. What you want to focus on is how much fat you have in terms of body fat percentage. To lower your body fat requires you to exercise and eat properly in the following way:
1) DO aerobic type exercises such as running, walking, jogging, riding exercycles and ellipticals.
Do them 4-5 times a week for at least 20 minutes.
2) Cut out refined sugar and refined/bleached flour from your diet and eat foods high in fiber and made with whole grain. Avoid anything made with hydrogenated oils and foods that have high amounts of saturated fats. You want as much as you can: fresh vegetables and fruits, lean cuts of meat, and whole grain. For most people, it helps if you have a hobby or interest that can occupy your free time so you don't spend it sitting at the TV or PC and munching on snacks.

QUESTION:
What are some disadvantages of eating healthy?
I know the advantages of eating healthy are many and varied including more energy, lower risk of disease, and less likely to be overweight. However, I was wondering about some possible DIS-advantages to eating healthy. Like more dirty dishes from home-cooked meals, and extra trips to the grocery store for fresh foods.-
ANSWER:
A disadvantage might be that some people find it difficult to eat healthy. Most people eat high sugar, high sodium foods with little to no nutritional value. Starting out a healthier lifestyle proves challenging because their bodies crave those delicious, junk foods that they can't have anymore. They often switch right back to their old habits.
And then they try to get healthy again and the process begins again.Switching diets back and forth, over and over, can do some real internal damage to your organs.
How's that?

QUESTION:
Is it true that you will eventually start to crave healthy foods once you begin eating it regularly?
Example: if one started eating healthy on a regular basis (such as eating morning oatmeal every day) would your body eventually learn to crave for this oatmeal if it didn't get it one day?-
ANSWER:
Your body will get acquainted with the taste of natural food after a while of not eating processed, unnatural food. A lot of people think that some kind of food (let's use cantaloupe as an example) tastes a certain way because they only have ever had artificial cantaloupe flavor. When they try the real thing, their bodies say, "wait a minute, this isn't the taste I'm used to", so they think it tastes weird, even though it is much more natural than cantaloupe Gatorade. After eating regular cantaloupe for a while, their bodies will adjust to that flavor. Also, when you start eating good food instead of junk food, your body realizes it is getting a lot more nutrients than before, and begins to crave those nutrients. I think any taste is acquired, and babies who grow up eating vegetables turn into vegetable loving adults (I loved broccoli as a small child, and still do today). I don't think it is ever too late to acquire a new taste for healthy food, but your body has to have time to adjust its taste buds to the new taste. So, yes, I think eventually you will begin to crave healthy food.

Any tips on starting over and eating healthy?
I decided that my family and I need to start eating healthier. The only problem is I need healthy recipes, healthy snack ideas etc. I, myself, am looking to shed 30 pounds and would like to be my ideal size by summer. Any suggestions or tips would be wonderful? Thanks!!!!-
ANSWER:
Cook up lots of beans & organic whole brown rice that you can feed off of all week.
I suggest doing some exercises that get the legs moving, such as walking, jogging, running, swimming or bike riding.
These exercises that really get your heart pumping will burn the weight off quickly.I like push ups, yoga stretches, pull ups, crunches, curl ups, leg stretches, calf raises, and squats as far as being good toning exercises that use no equipment and cost zero money to perform.
I like taking some dumbbells and doing some easy bicep curls, military presses, and lateral raises.
I think diet is important also and try to eat healthy home-cooked meals with lots of vegetables in them.
I try to stay away from the pop and sugar, candy, and fast food.
I try to get a good night's sleep each night.
