      You have a few choices. You can order anything you like but only eat a third or half of it. Or, you can choose lower calorie options. Eg chicken salad (or any salad without heavy dressing), sandwiches, grilled meat with vegetables and no creamy sauces etc. Avoid fried foods and don't add calories by eating bread or drinking soda. Just drink water.

      If you exercise every day (eg 30-60 mins of cardio) you can eat a little more :)

      You don't even need a diet plan! That's the beauty of it. Anyone can lose weight by making simple changes to their diet.

      Go through a week of eating as you normally would, but count all your calories. I use a site called LoseIt.com and it works pretty well for me. At the end of the week, cut around 350 calories by any means you want (eating reduced calorie foods, avoiding liquid calories, just to name a few) and you should lose about a pound every ten days! I know it's not the fastest method, but it's simple, easy, and leaves you in complete control.

      Do you get enough water? Enough Vitamin C? Orange juice usually acts as a natural diuretic. Lots of nice green vegetables are good and cleansing. Celery and onions are great for this.
      Try to keep your diet balanced...enough protein, enough carbs, enough vitamins and minerals....and always have enough water.

      You could run the track at your school, 4 laps on the football field is 1 mile. Do that 4-5x a week and just eat healthy food. you don't need to diet to stay in shape, just portion control and exercise!

      Food options:
      -Celery & peanut butter
      -chicken breast and broccoli
      -stay away from fast food and salad dressings (unless they say fat free or reduced fat)
      -plain oatmeal with a fruit of your choice or a tbsp of brown sugar
      -turkey or ham sandwich on whole wheat bread, no mayo
      -tuna, salmon
      -fruits
      -fruit shakes
      -red potatoes, mashed, baked
      -salads and anything you want to put on it, fat free or reduced fat dressing
      -eggs

      You can lose more body fat eating protein & fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast, eat all you want, but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter & half an avocado a day (for added potassium). Keep the calories high & the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

      The first 2 weeks eat several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce & celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers & more variety of vegetables thereafter - add 5 grams per day additional every week (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) til you gain weight, then subtract 10grams. That will be your personal carb level (everyone is different & depends on how active you are.)

      Start with meat, fats & salads for 2 weeks and then slowly add in more green veg, wk4 fresh cheeses, wk5 nuts & seeds, wk6 berries, wk7 legumes, wk8 other fruits, wk9 starchy veg, wk10 whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods.

      The first week is just water weight but fat is lost thereafter if you keep your calories high enough. Otherwise the body will strip it's own lean tissue for nutrition. Although that may look great on a scale it will make it MUCH easier to accumulate fat in the future (since all that pesky lean tissue burning up calories will be gone). The body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow metabolism to compensate & store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering calories, it will continue lowering the set point, til it can survive off nothing & store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of nutritious food.

      Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) & exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.

      The core of Atkins program is converting the body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). Dietary fat levels need to be at >65% of total calories, if not, the body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).

      It takes minimum of 3 days to convert a body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis). People feel sluggish the first week but most feel better than ever thereafter.

      Carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice, beans) trigger insulin (the ONLY fat storage hormone). Protein triggers the fat burning hormone glucagon.

      Simple carbs are addictive & can be disastrous to health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs, eat one every time you want "something" - have huge omelets with bacon, sausage, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops smothered with peppers, mushrooms & cheese - pork rinds & dip or tuna/chicken/turkey/egg salad - steaks - a huge sugar free cheese cake. Eat so much you won't feel deprived of anything. By the 4th day, the addiction will be gone & you can start making healthy choices.

      High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger & unbalance other hormones. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise.

      Ground flax seed (2 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 min for daily fiber needs.

      As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn't gain weight, no matter the calories because insulin, the fat storage hormone is not activated. Many people gain weight on high carb, do low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb & gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar & maintain weight or health.

      I am adamantly opposed to low calorie dieting because most people lose a good portion of lean tissue (including vital organs like the heart) along with fat stores. There is no nutrition in fat stores, only energy. Most people get impatient and lower their calories and increase their exercise to a point where they lose so much lean tissue that when they return to what was maintenance level eating they are now accumulating more fat stores because their caloric needs have dropped due to the loss of this tissue as well as their metabolism slowing down to work more efficiently on fewer calories & it becomes a vicious cycle of dieting and more loss (including vital organs like the heart). This stress to the vital organs cannot be healthy.

      Changing eating habits is an intimidating process. But what I've learned is that it's all commonsense. Chances are, when you are eating something unhealthy, you know you shouldn't be eating it (even if you don't like to admit it to yourself).

      First thing to look at is calories. Keep your calorie intake low. I am currently consuming 1100 - 1200 per day and I am 5'4'' 179lbs (down from 224lbs, in only 3 months). While the calories tell you a little something about what you are about to eat (chances are, if it's higher in calories it's going to have other bad stuff going on as well), you still need to look at fat (no trans fats!), sugar, cholesterol, sodium and carbs.

      Include high fiber and protein in your diet, especially if you are working out, but also because they help curb your appetite somewhat.

      If you only have a "muffin top" to worry about, you won't even need to utilize the whole 4-5 months to lose the weight. The thing to remember is that, if you get back into your old habits, the weight WILL come back.

      Energy In/Energy Out

      Food Intake: 1,200 Per Day

      One Pound equals 3,500 Calories

      To loose one pound per day, You need to burn your food intake plus your one pound of fat

      1,200 (intake) + 3,500 (Outtake) = 4,700 Calories Burn

      You must burn at least 4,700 Calories everyday to loose one pound at least. It is very easy to go up and beyond 4,700 calories each day.

      Best way to do this is to track your progress on a calorie counter monitor watch. If you do it by the numbers you can loose the weight. It is just a matter of changing the way you think about weight loss.

      Once you start wearing your calorie counter you can see the numbers increase and you fill find yourself doing extra things in your day, like tapping your foot while waiting at the light in your car, chewing gum, singing out loud and so on onto of your workout routines. You begin to see that everything you do in your day contributes to the overall numbers needed to loose that pound.

      Water Intake/Less Storage

      Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 to 80 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

      Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.

      My favorite things to eat:

      Avocado Wraps

      Simple: Low Carb Tortilla, Half Avocado sliced, alpha sprouts, lettuce, soy bacon...Just wrap it up and eat. You can vary the things you put inside so long as you keep it to approx 4 or 5 items. You want to make sure they are fresh, low calorie and filling. Avocado and mushrooms can replace meats in your meal and still have great taste.

      Special K Cereals are fantastic. They have that sweetness that one craves and is so good for you. Calories are low. Great for even just dinner.

      First thing in the morning...A Glass of Chocolate Milk. Yup!! Chocolate Milk. We all crave that "got to have" item in the morning. Milk is the best thing you can have for yourself while working out. The chocolate (and you can use Carnation Instant Milk for this but I simply use Nestle dry mix) will give you that sweet "snack" that you need. If you give your body a little bit of it and its in a control way, you will not crave sweets and junk the rest of the day.

      Lean Cuisines

      Fantastic food! Each meal is approx 180 t0 380 calories per box. So think about your calories. 1,200...You can still have several of these meals a day and still be under your intake requirements.

      It’s all about the numbers and watching what you take in and what you burn out. And you know what..If you go over your 1,200 mark for food intake...that’s okay...you simple up your total calories burned for the day by what you took it. So long as you burn off the over all calories to be more than your food intake. Just make sure you stick too it so you can reach your weight loss goals.

      My favorite is ONE A DAY WITH ENERGY...I am in love with this vitamin because I am just like everyone else who loves those quick fix energy drinks. But what people do not realize is that energy drinks can contain 120 to 440 calories in just ONE Can. If you think about it..That is HALF of your allowed calories for food intake. The best alternative I have found is One a day with energy vitamin. Easy to spot, it is packaged in a green label bottle. Just One vitamin a day will give you as much energy as approx. 1 1/2 cans of red bull...WITHOUT the calorie intake.
      WoW..now your making progress already because you have made more room in your intake calories for actual healthy food.

      Soda/Carbonation

      Carbonation is terrible for your system because it bloats your stomach. And when your stomach bloats, your jeans just don't fit. You can drop one pant size simply by NOT drinking any carbonated drinks all together..Take away the bloat and you have instantly just made it one pant size lower. Besides, Sodas dehydrate you and with that One a Day Vitamin, you won't need the Caffeine in the soda and it will also cut out those extra calories that you don't need.
      So remove that soda and the energy drinks and just think how much calories you just instantly removed from your daily intake. I normally consume what...four sodas and two energy drinks in one day...that is a total of .... 900 calories. Of what??? Nothing...Those are horrible calories and calories that can be replaced by food which will fuel your body for your day and your workouts.

      Your Body

      Your body is like a computer. You must program your body to do what it is suppose to do so it won't crash and leave you with a virus. Your stomach is only the size of your fist. So think about it right now, Look at your hand and close your fist. Not very big is it. That is how much food you actually ONLY need to eat, each time you eat for every meal. If you eat anything more than that, you will stretch out your stomach which causes overeating and overweight.

      What you need to do is eat every three hours, approx 5 to 7 times everyday around the same time. If you are always giving your body healthy and better food choices (the size of your fist) every three hours, your body will know you are giving it food. It will use that food properly. It will not go into starvation mode or store food away for later because it knows...it will get more in three hours. So what does your body do...it flushes everything out of your system because it doesn't need it.. Now it knows...you wont' forget about it and that food is on its way.

      This is the best thing especially for woman. Get a walking buddy. One hour everyday. Just think about how much talking, venting and laughing two woman can do together while walking and yup, you guessed it...it just burns more calories and reduces your stress. You now are more relaxed because you can talk and free yourself of whatever is frustrating you while getting into shape.

      Eat BBQ, red meats, and cheese/dairy in moderation.

      As far as work outs go, do cardio try for 30 minutes a day and on days when you have extra time do weights.
      If you are looking for some good workout videos, try turbo jam... seriously they have cardio videos, sculpting videos and 20 minute work out videos, they're my absolute favourite, I couldn't afford them so I just downloaded them!

      Simple carbs are addictive & can be disastrous to health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs, eat one every time you want "something" - have huge omelets with bacon, sausage, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops smothered with peppers, mushrooms & cheese - pork rinds & dip or tuna/chicken/turkey/egg salad - steaks - a huge sugar free cheese cake. Eat so much you won't feel deprived of anything. By the 4th day, the addiction will be gone & you can start making healthy choices.

      Concentrate on what you can have and don't dwell on what you can't have.

      During the first 2 weeks, you can have several cups of salads - Bacon, lettuce & a lil tomato with avocado/mayo dressing is my fav. Jicama, cucumber, celery & radish marinated in sesame oil & hot pepper flakes with rice wine vinegar & artificial sweetener. Make a stir fry with Bok Choy, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, celery, mushrooms, shirataki noodles & your fav meats. I love eggs & could eat deviled eggs every day. You can smother omelets & meats with mushrooms & peppers & cheese. Meatzza - Meatloaf with pizza toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, mozzarella) I prefer very thin sausage patties fried crispy with pizza toppings. Pork rinds & celery sticks are great crunch and can be eaten with dips (avocado/mayo/cayenne is my fav) & tuna/chicken/turkey/egg salads. I love love love my rotisserie and it makes the meats extra tasty. I cook a turkey every couple of months and make soup with the bones (add vinegar to leach minerals) & turkey salads. I'll cube up some turkey meat mix in a couple of raw eggs add cheese (and broccoli after induction) with cayenne powder & nuke a couple of minutes for nearly instant meal. Flax seed should be eaten 2T daily even in induction.

      Ground flax seed (2-4 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 min for daily fiber needs.

      After the 2 week induction, you add 5 grams of carbs per day every week and add a much greater variety of non starchy vegetables. Change your mindset - eat what you like to eat, just adapt it to low carb -
      replace bread with lettuce
      replace pasta with cabbage
      replace rice with cauliflower
      replace potatoes with brocolli
      I eat all my favorite Chinese, Italian, even Mexican foods with low carb foods. Cabbage makes an excellent pasta substitute (for me) Make a lasagna with blanched cabbage leaves & thinly fried eggplant instead of noodles. Sugar free pasta sauce over fried cabbage. My fav is chicken cacciatore, I add greens & flaxseed or chia seed for body and also add pizza toppings - pepperoni, mushrooms, lots of mozzarrella. Alfredo sauce is also low carb..

      I make a lot of shredded cabbage & mayo or fried cabbage if I'm a bit more ambitious. I cook up some bacon & throw in onions & let them fry & it makes any salad extra special (BLT) Avocado & turkey is great on a salad - Grilled chicken or fajita meat & fried onions too. Sometimes I'll make a canned salad - can mackerel, can baby corn, can water chestnuts, can bamboo shoots, can artichoke hearts, can sweet red peppers & add in mayo & chia seed gel.

      Kim Chee is a fermented cabbage salad & is suppose to be one of the most healthy foods in the world. You can make a huge batch & it will sit in refrigerator fine for a long time.

      I usually make huge batches of food & freeze most of it. I cook meats 20-30# at a time (for just me) I have gone into the forums for recipes (especially when I first started low carb) I was shocked that fried "rice" made with grated cauliflower tasted just like it's name sake. Shirataki noodles are traditional in Japanese sukiyaki and low carb. I've heard faux mashed "taters" made with cauliflower & cream cheese can fool non low carbers. "potato" salad using cauliflower instead.

      I don't cook much but many recipes abound. Adapt what you've always eaten first (I bet someone has a recipe for it or low carb version) and then start exploring.

      Chia seeds sound so expensive but 1# will make 10# food (when you can splurge some - Amazon.com has couple lbs. for shipped to you. I buy mine in bulk - 24# for .83# with free shipping at getchia.com

      I also order off Amazon - Lowrey's Pork Rinds 18 for - they pop like popcorn & are portion controlled.

      Faux tapioca - 2 cups of water, 5 scoops of low carb whey protein powder, stir together & add cup of chia seeds, after they have started to absorb the water, add in 2 cans of coconut milk (or cream and added water during induction) & artificial sweetener if you like and mix it all in. Can be eaten after an hour but will be better tomorrow. Cream a pkg. of cream cheese into a can of pumpkin & add to the faux tapioca for an even more nutritious pumpkin pie pudding.

      (berries are lowest glycemic) Cheesecake - strawberry ice cream (frozen berries, cream, a stick blender) - pork rinds great crunch - i eat lots

      The good news is that the diet does not need to be strict, and it is easy. It's the Asian Diet.

      Don't use diet pills, they are dangerous and don't address the root problem. It was not the lack of pills that got you heavy, their addition is not the fix you need.

      Fast is not best. Slow and steady wins the race.

      Don't worry about calories. Caloric science is flawed for several reasons.
      1. It assumes 100% absorption (we all absorb and excrete different amounts.)
      2. It assumes that the amount of energy released by combustion (burning) in a lab is the same amount of energy released when broken down enzymatically in the gut.
      3. People in China eat 25-40% more calories than the average american but they have much less obesity.
      4. Correlation does not prove causation. Heavy people eat more calories. did the calories make them fat or does the fat make them need more calories? Maybe they're both symptoms of a deeper problem.

      Our obsession with calories leads us to eat less-natural foods because the have less calories. We are misinformed about food in order to sell us products.

      Balance and moderation are the keys to good health; now and for the rest of your life.

      Asian cultures long ago figured out how we should be eating. Don't go hungry! That puts your body into starvation mode, slows your metabolism, and causes your body to hold on to fat. You should aim to lose 1-3 pounds per week.

      What you need to do is eat simple and natural foods. If you eat like the Asians, you will look like the Asians (thin); when they eat like us, they look like us (not thin). You don't have to eat Asian food, just follow the principles that these cultures have arrived at after thousands of years of experimentation, observation, and documentation.

      The next most important thing is to watch your diet. DO NOT stop eating. Your body needs food to function and by not eating all together your body will not lose weight, it will just become weaker. Anyways, avoid foods high in calories, fat (especially saturated and trans), sugar... etc. Do not drink any sort of soda... way too much sugar to add weight. Try eating extra fruits and vegetables... keep portions SMALL. Don't make more than one serving...

That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet.

      Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further.

      There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you exercise them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive.

      If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.
