Dieting

The main reason you might be reading this article is that you want to lose weight without having to go hungry for long. Dieting does not involve starving yourself until you get your desired result. The common idea for weight loss meals for most people is that it is still a complete meal - meat, fish, and grains without any trace of preservatives. Yes, it may be a good idea but this kind of diet will not satisfy your hunger at all. This form of dieting only lasts long enough for the next meal. Some may even be tempted to make nibbles in between meals because their hunger was not satisfied. By doing so, it destroys the whole idea of dieting.

This may bring in some good news for you. There are weight loss meals out there which allow you to take in as much as you can. Read on and hopefully this article will bring in some fruitful results.

Take in a lot of fresh fruits as needed. Whenever you feel hungry, grab a banana to satisfy that hunger. Limit yourself to taking in only fresh fruits all the time. What about the amount of nutrition we can get out of them, you might ask. Fruits have been the source of food for almost any organism for ages. They have long been in existence and the benefits you can get out of them have been affirmed by most nutritionists, dietitians and doctors.

For some people who, for some various reasons, can not have fresh fruits can opt to consume dried fruit foods instead. These are similar to the fresh fruit diet mentioned above except that of course, this alternative involves consuming only dried fruits. Be careful in choosing dried fruits from the market. Ensure that they do not have preservatives or any chemicals added to it. It defeats the purpose of being healthy as you may be taking in toxins that could be harmful to your health. It is important that they be all natural (no coloring added or any preservative added to retain its color) or they be organically grown dried fruits.

Of course, you could always choose to have the fruit juice alternative. Just like all the forms of "fasting" mentioned above, this alternative only allows taking in juices to lose weight. Only juices made from fresh fruits are allowed so forget about buying ready to drink juices or ready to mix juices from the market because they also contain preservatives that may be harmful to your health. Try shopping for a good juicer instead. Ensure that you pick the one with the best quality as this machine will be your best tool in helping you lose weight.

All these types of meals have a common denominator - you can have as much as you want. That is what makes it advantageous over the other forms of weight loss meals. You won't have to deprive yourself in case you get hungry. Whatever type you choose, a combination, or all of them perhaps, it is important that you stick to it. Be determined to lose that excess weight and you'll surely be on the go to have the weight and shape you have always wanted.

  1. QUESTION:
    ---dieting?
can anyone please tell me what foods to avoid whilst dieting and what types of food i should be eating any help will be much appriciated thanks

    • ANSWER:
I agree with the other 2. Weight watchers is a really good program. I know a lot of people who have lost a lot of weight on it.. You just have to do everything in moderation. everyonce in a while things are okay but don't have them often. all fried stuff isn't good for you. chocolate, cheese, hot-dogs, corn dogs, regular soda (a lot of wasted calories, switch to diet you'll end up likeing it) icecream, and deserts. ect. but like I said these things are okay everyonce in a while I just wouldn't do them all the time. another thing to watch is portion size. if you go out to eat eat half and take half home for tomorrow (just a tip) hope I helped at all and good luck I know its hard!

  2. QUESTION:
    Dieting...?
What kind of dieting programs or tips do you suggest?
And in order to get rid of "love handles" what exercises would I have to do?

    • ANSWER:
Cardio, cardio, cardio. That's all I'll say regarding exercise. But don't start a 'diet'- It'll only set you up to eat more! Instead, revise your eating habits and replace them with healthier foods and smaller portions. Drinking lots of water cleanses you, as well as eating lots of fiber and protein. Of course, balance is essential and carbs are definitely not the enemy when it comes to weight loss- you just need the right ones. I wish you the best of luck!

  7. QUESTION:
What are the benefits of dieting and exercising?
I mean, healthy diets. Not fad diets that never work. I need some sort of motivation. So, are there any other benefits to dieting and working out besides just losing weight? Any ideas?

    • ANSWER:
you feel better and can do more and do it better. you live longer and have better quality of life. you spend less on clothes (smaller sizes are cheaper) and less on food because you don't eat so much. you can enjoy life so much better if you weight less and are healthier. plus feeling better about yourself and getting compliments on how good you look.

  8. QUESTION:
How long after birth did you start dieting?
I still have 2 months left until I give birth, but I am really excited about getting back to weight watchers. I want to hear from other moms, how long after giving birth did you wait to start a diet. I know that it is recommended 6 weeks until you can start exercising, especially after a c-section. But Im not sure about the dieting guidelines I will ask my doctor at my next appointment, especially since weight watchers is really just a way of eating healthier and not really a diet. Just want to hear when did you start? Please no rude answers!

    • ANSWER:
If I am remembering correctly weight watchers has a specific category for breastfeeding mothers. Allowing the extra calories you will need to still produce milk. As long as you aren't cutting yourself short of needed calories. You should have been eating healthier during your pregnancy as well.

  9. QUESTION:
How do you think dieting is becoming more mcdonaldized?
How do you think dieting is becoming more mcdonaldized or socialized. Suddenly it seems all women are dieting in some way, and corporate america has caught onto this creating diet programs, diet pills, and all that jazz for women. Do you know of any other ways dieting has becoming mcdonaldized?

    • ANSWER:
Corporate America is feeding into our desire to eat healthier but I'm not so sure that we really are eating healthier because if you analyze the content of some of those "diet" meals then they're not all that healthy.

But it gives people the illusion that they're eating more healthy so people don't really look into whether an item is all that healthy. For example, products may say "No Sugar Added" but the darn things already were loaded with sugar to begin with. However, stupid consumers buy it anyway and tell themselves that they're "eating healthy."

Some items have reduced the sugar but, in order to keep it tasty, increased the fat! How is THAT healthy? See what I mean?

      By the way, nice avatar!

  10. QUESTION:
What are the best dieting foods to eat during the course of a day?
I am currently dieting and it's working, plus I am in the gym again. I am not fat just gettitng a little loose, I used to play soccer and do step aeorbics in high school, yet I am not happy about my current look. I know dieting foods, I just want to hear more strategies from various people.

    Inform me.

    LQ!!!
The first answer is just from someone most people don't want to hear from or like. Get a grid smarty!

    • ANSWER:
Maybe it would help you if you didn't look at things as "diet foods". When you want to eat something (which you should do often, like every 2-3 hours), think to yourself - what benefit am I getting from this? So instead of thinking of things you CAN'T eat b/c you're trying to firm up, try thinking of what you CAN eat to help you. What you do eat is much more important that what you don't eat. And the little things do add up. For example - try a small handful of nuts, but remember to get them without salt. No need for that extra sodium. And drink TONS of water. I know it sounds very cliche, but once you get into a habit of really staying hydrated, you realize how much better you feel. Oh, and fresh, raw veggies are great. Just remember, the more natural a food is, and the less processed, the better it is for you. Good luck friend!

  11. QUESTION:
How is surgery better than dieting and exercising when it comes to losing weight and being fit?
What are the advantages for surgery when it comes to shedding off pounds and being fit and healthy compared to that of dieting and exercising.
Also, what are the disadvantages of dieting and exercising to make surgery look good?

    • ANSWER:
I dont think any surgery will ever beat good ol fashion excercise. Surgery is good for a ridiculously fatty fat back who let their weight get grossly out of control. But excercise is the bodies medicine regardless if your tired from it.

Also after you have surgery, you would have to diet and eat good anyway to keep the results grade A. Can a person have stomache surgery and still stuff their belly? Yes, but you'll still be in danger of ripping your new tummy open. You'll get fat only at a slower rate depending on what you eat.

The body is an engine, not a mr. Potatoe head. It needs driven and filled with good motor oil to be at its best.

  12. QUESTION:

  13. QUESTION:
What is your biggest obstacle when dieting and trying to lose weight?
I was just curious what everyone else struggles with when trying to diet. Mine is just hunger, I have a hearty appetite and loathe the feeling of being hungry so its hard to say no to tasty, greasy foods that are available when I'm dieting. Whats your obstacle? And have you overcome it or are you still battling?

    • ANSWER:
For me, it's resisting foods that simply taste colourful in my mouth lol. i.e. chips.... (are a big guilty pleasure for me)
I think I only overcome that when I really choose to though... I usually give in when I feel like I haven't eaten them for a long while, and that's when I truly INDULGE (in every sense of the word).
But overall, I think I've overcome it. A tip is to just stay away from the foods altogether, and have the willpower to resist walking over and buying/taking the specific food out of the cupboard.

  14. QUESTION:
What percentage of girls who start dieting at 13 get eating disorders?
I know a girl who has been dieting since she was 13 and still is (she's probably around 15 now). What are the chances of her getting an eating disorder? I've heard that like 86% of girls who diet at that age end up with one, is that true? What statistics do you have/know? I really would like to warn her parents, especially since they see nothing wrong with her behavior. I'm not sure if she's throwing up in a bathroom or anything like that, but she definately is watching what she is eating, eating foods marked "low carb", keeping track of how many pounds she has lost, and exercises for the benefit of weight loss. Also looks like she could use a vitamin if you know what I mean..
    Thanks to all who help.

    • ANSWER:
i've been dieting for a year and a half (since 13 1/2) and i dont have a disorder, maybe shes just trying to be healthy. talk to her before her parents. there could be something going on at home, eating is a bout self control, maybe if shes lost something she thinks regaining the ability to choose what she eats can bring things back into focus and get stability.
      hope i helped

    • ANSWER:
      Hi Jessica,

Have you ever wondered how a celebrity can keep such a nice and tight body? Do you think they are just born that way and they are just a special person to look that good? Part of it is airbrushing in pictures and different camera angles on television, but a lot of it has to do with the way they diet. There is such a thing as the master cleanser diet and it is one of hollywoods secrets. Here is what you can expect from the master cleanser diet.

      1. You will gain more energy than you ever though possible

You are going to get a huge burst of energy and more daily energy if you do a cleaning diet. This is due to all the toxins you will be flushing out of your body and all the garbage that will no longer be clogging up your colon. When you cleanse your colon you will allow your body to work properly and this will give you more energy because you will be wasting less energy on cleaning the garbage and storing it in your colon.

      2. You will find more time in your days.

Sure this sounds strange, but when you have more energy you will require less sleep and you will be more productive. This means that things that used to take you an hour might only take you 45 minutes and those 8-10 hour nights of sleep will turn into 5-6 hour nights of sleep. This can greatly benefit anybody that could use an extra hour or two each day.

  17. QUESTION:
What are good vitamins to take while dieting?
I'm currently on a diet and working out 3-4 days a week in hopes to lose about 15-20lbs. I was wondering if anyone new of any certain vitamins that could help me reach my goals or just help in general while dieting. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
A good multi is important to take everyday for everyone.

Try to find one that does not have alot of extra ingredients (non-vitamin/mineral) and has an even look/texture throughout.

I love the Nutralite vitamins. They have been around for 50 years and are one of the best.

      good luck!

  18. QUESTION:
How can I lose the flab off my stomach without dieting?
I have some flab covering my abs, which causes my abs to show only when i flex, and i can't flex forever. How can I lose the flab without dieting? I don't stick to diets, at all. If the only other option you can propose is a diet, than thats fine.

    • ANSWER:
you dont really need to diet, just eat a little less.
also try cardio to burn fat. run fast for say 4x200m to get rid of the glycogen from the muscles, and get all the other bonuses HIIT training gives, after that do slow cardio for 30 minutes, or upto 50 mintues for fat loss. you can also swim, that works as well. .

also muscles will burn more fat than cardio in the long run,(long run being the other 23 hours of the day) so build some muscles.
if you dont have any equipment, do push-ups, crunches, oblique twists, reverse curls, squats.
if you have access to dumbells, do bicep curls at least, you can use them for jsut about everything.,
if you have access to a gym ask someone who knows what their doing, or a trainer, they'll prolly show you how to do it, and help you ge tthe right form as well.

  19. QUESTION:
How do you make your metabolism go back to normal after dieting?
I heard that when you diet your metabolism goes down because your body is slightly starving. How do you make it go back up after dieting? And how do you not exercise as often or as hardcore and eat normal and not gain weight without being on a permanent diet?

    • ANSWER:
Unless you drastically restrict calories for a very long period of time, no permanent damage is done to your metabolism. I challenge anyone to dig up a study to prove otherwise.

That said, get a post-diet sluggish metabolism back on track while increasing calories, you should slowly add calories into your diet over the course of a few weeks, while INCREASING your exercise levels. Keep an eye on the scale and on your measurements.

The idea is to keep increasing calories while staying at the same weight. You will be increasing the rate of tissue turnover (read:metabolism) through all the exercise, while getting your body accustomed to a much higher food intake. After you have maxed out your exercise (6-8 hours a week), cut back on the exercise and your food intake just a bit, and then just monitor your progress to make sure you are not gaining or losing weight.

This is also a good strategy to use for a couple of weeks BEFORE going on a fat loss diet to get your metabolism really revved up before you reduce calories.

  20. QUESTION:
when can you really start dieting and exercising after c section?
had my 3rd c section 3 weeks ago. when can i start dieting and exercising?

    • ANSWER:
If you are breastfeeding, you should not diet in order to provide yourself and the baby with enough nutrition. If you are not BF then you can diet right away, BUT you still need to eat as healthy as possible because you are essentially recoevering from surgery. Your body needs proper nutrition with LOTS of protein to help rebuild/repair muscle.

You should wait for you DR to OK exercise, but you also know your own body. If you feel up to it you can (and should) begin walking. As a nurse, they train us to get people walking very soon after surgery. It prevents blood clots and gets your systems (esp: intestinal) going. Work up from there, but don't go crazy. Even when the outside is healed, it takes even longer for the muscle to completely heal.

  21. QUESTION:
How long will it take dieting to see results?
I am a freshman in high school and I have a 4 pack. I do ab workouts everyday and lift weights. If I move the fat away from the bottom of my stomach I can clearly see a 6 pack. Got any free dieting tips? How long will it take to pay off? I want to eat good foods obviously because Im a high school boy. Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
It will take a very LONG time compared to an alternative. I know this doesn't answer your question but i really suggest starving yourself is a bad idea.....Try working out i think it takes as long as dieting but its healthier and makes you stronger at the same time ;D.

  22. QUESTION:
How can i lose weight if dieting and excersising isnt working?
Ive tried so many dieting techniques, some im not proud of, and i can't seem to lose weight. Im 16 and i do 4 hours of excersise at school a week, and 2 hours out of school.
    Help!

    • ANSWER:
Your biggest problem without a doubt is that you're completely overtraining! By working out 2-3 hrs/day about 5 days a week, you're body is screaming for precious recovery time and has most likely severely plateaued. Your body absolutely needs quality time to recover from intense workouts and without this, it will simply start shutting down. I highly recommend cutting back on your training and focusing on only 1 hour of intense training per day for a maximum of 4 days a week. Its great to break up your 1 hour training routine into 30 minutes of high intensity weight training and finishing off with 30 minutes of high intensity cardio training. Push each weight training set to positive failure and really work your muscles. Once your weight training is finished, move right into your cardio routine. Choose high intensity cardio exercises which will burn more calories and keep your body's metabolism stoked throughout the day. Great examples are sprints, jumping rope and spinning. This may also stimulate muscle growth and strength in your weight training routine.

The second major thing is to really look at what your eating everyday. Make sure you document everything you eat and drink into a diet journal.M ake sure to limit all simple sugars (fruit, etc.) after 6pm. Your insulin levels are very sensitive at night and it will be much easier to store extra fat if you consume sugars later in the day. Stick with a lean protein and non-starchy carbs. A great meal would be a grilled chicken breast salad with romaine lettuce, sliced cucumbers and a little balsamic vinaigrette dressing. You could also opt for a nice chicken breast/veggie stir fry. Throw some broccoli, mushrooms and chicken into a stir fry pan with a touch of soy sauce. This makes a great meal for later in the day!

  23. QUESTION:
How many weeks after you start dieting will you see the results?
I'm dieting right now, and I want to know how many weeks after will I see the results? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
It can vary a lot. It can be later the same week, or not for four weeks! It's important to have patience in the beginnings for the losses to kick in.

If you're female, your cycle can effect it too. You can think you're not losing because you're gaining that 2-3 lbs right before while losing 1-2 lbs the same week.

Adding exercise makes a big different at keeping it going.

Sometimes you'll see nothing on the scale, but your clothes will be a little looser, then finally 2 weeks later a bit of weight will come off. Sometimes you'll see nothing for 2-3 weeks, then suddenly see something.

      Hang in there!

What is some thing you can drink being an alcholic beverage when your dieting?
I have been dieting for 3 weeks and want to keep it up. I did diet and bacardi before but that gets old. Any suggestions? I am going to a party and wanna have a few drinks with out totalling botching my diet?

    • ANSWER:
It's not so much the alcohol as it is the mixers. Sweet and sour mix, fruit juices, and things like that are FULL of sugar! Try getting used to drinks like martini's and other drinks that are centered around the alcohol itself, not the mixer. Something else you can do is start making them old school, like how they used to be made before premade mixes were available in stores. Here's a website that has a lot of really good recipes.

  30. QUESTION:
What are some good dieting tips you have found?
for someone who isn't trying to overdo it on the dieting but would like to start eating healthier and feel better. There is the obvious things to cut out of your diet, but as for other things, what have you found that staying away from really seems to help?

    • ANSWER:
Try eating more fruits and veggies in place of other fatty meals, like junk food, cookies, or high calorie meals. Like most people (I'm guilty sometimes!), you've probably brainwashed yourself into thinking that fast food tastes better than healthy food, but that's not entirely true! Try eating more grapes, clemintines, apples chunks in vanilla yogurt (good for sweet cravings!), blueberries, hummus (it sounds gross but it's really not, especially with Wheat Thins or Food Should Taste Good brand whole grain chips! I personally like garden vegetable or tomato flavored), granola, low-fat yogurt, low-fat string cheese, LITE whole wheat bread, 100 - calorie popcorn / kettle corn bags, steamed broccoli with a buttery garlic sauce etc. I also snack on South Beach Diet oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, they're good AND pretty healthy! And eat SLOWLY. Take one bite at a time, chew completely, then take another bite. If you eat slower, you'll become fuller quicker, and you won't overeat.

Incorporate more exercise into your daily life. Take the dog for a 20 minute walk, do jumping jacks while watching TV, do laps around the block, or the house for that matter. Don't let yourself sit down for too long. If you can, get a gym membership. I use an elliptical for 30 minutes 5-6 times a week and it works great for me.

And don't eat out of boredom! It's a nasty habit to break, TRUST ME. Whenever you feel like eating, watch a movie with no commercial breaks so you don't have time to get up, call a friend, read a book or magazine, or get out of the house, away from the food.

And don't "DIET". Because the moment you go off your "diet", you'll regain the all the weight you lost quickly, believe me. Instead, make "healthy living choices."

I recently lost weight, about 20 lbs, and what really helped for me was planning my meals. I planned when and what I was going to eat, and made sure the calorie count was 1400. It may be different depending on your needs, but never go under 1200! Whatever you do, don't let yourself stray from your plan. Write it all down or type it out and leave it up on your computer so you don't forget, that's what I do.

You'll never get to your "ideal" body by eating crap food and sitting around, no matter how much you want it to happen. It takes dedication to get the body you want! Make it like a game. How much weight can I lose? Prove it to yourself you DO have the willpower to get what you want. Hang pictures of the body type you want on the fridge and cupboard to stop yourself from mindless snacking or overeating.

But allow yourself a cheat day every now and then. Life is too short! If you restrict your body of all the "good foods", you will one day EXPLODE and eat everything in sight. Trust me!

One more thing: Once you do become thinner, DON'T think you can eat whatever you want now! You'll regain all the weight back, which is absolutely mortifying, especially after all the hard work to lose it.

Good luck! Hope that helps (:

OH, and sitting up straight burns more calories than slouching. Try it!

  33. QUESTION:
What percent of girls who start dieting at 13 end up with eating disorders?

    • ANSWER:
chances are she probably has one she may not meet the qualifications for anorexia or bulimia but she could be EDNOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified) which can become much more serious and turn into anorexia or bulimia . if you have an eating disorder you dont have to be underweight everyone has to start somewhere right? if she looks like she could us a vitamin id suggest asking her how many calories daily she averaging if she hesitates to answer then shes probably going to lie to make you think shes eating a regular amount if she says 1200 or 1500 she probably actually means 500-800 , telling her parents wont help a lot of adults dont understand it your friend should prbly get therapy or you could get her to talk to you and maybe even eat out with her make sure shes eating ATLEAST 1500 a day a 13 year old girl should be eating 2000 but if your friend has an eating disorder eating more then 1500 would make her freak out and when people with eating disorders freak out then they turn to puking.....i could keep going and goin and going but im gonna stop now

  34. QUESTION:
How important is dieting while trying to loose weight?
im trying to loose 20-25 pounds. i work out and everything but when it comes to dieting, it just doesnt happen. and it doesnt help that my family buys really unhealthy food. i mean id love to eat healthy what should i do?

    • ANSWER:
it is impossible to loose weight without a diet that is a fact. However by diet i do not think about those unhealthy pills or too less food or eat only vegetables etc. All you need to do is eat healthy and have at least 4 meals a day. You should be having 5-6 but 4 is also good. And a tip: If you eat slowly you usually eat less food cause you stop being hungry much sooner. Don't rush and eat fast. Eat a lot of vegetables and fruit. When it comes to meat i suggest meat that is not specially prepared. I Suggest white meat from the chicken and turkey. Also if you eat too less food you won't loose weight but you WILL feel tired. If you already workout this shouldn't be a problem. Oh and also... you MUST eat breakfast. Good luck even though i don't really think you'll need it. If you start eating healthy you'll see results in a week.

  35. QUESTION:
How do I lose belly fat in 2 weeks without dieting?
I am only 13 and I want to lose a handful of tummy fat before spring break in two weeks. How do I do that without dieting?
Could I adjust my meals? Some examples of six meals instead of 3? Anyone?

    • ANSWER:
jogging is an excellent exercise because it let you lose weight
evenly throughout your whole body. If you want to lose weight in
specific areas, you should target them with exercises. If they are
your problem areas, they will be very difficult to tone. You will have
to work double on them. The best approach is this:
      1. Lower/control your daily calorie intake (control for normal
      weight, lower for overweight).
      2. Run/jog to lower your overall body fat percentage.
      3. Target your problem areas with exercises.
an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a
stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture,
for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure
that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you
will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your
body back, until it's parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and
move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add
to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week,
guaranteed! You will see or feel under the fat - if you have any - six
pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these
crunches - I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT
ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

  36. QUESTION:
Does anyone have any dieting suggestions that actually work?
I am a 27yr old female with 2 children ages 3 and 1.....does anyone have any dieting suggestions that actually work? I am needing eating ideas that would work well with me and my family, as well as activities I can do with my children?
I try to walk about 5 miles a day. I really need to lose between 20-25 pounds to be at a healthy weight.

    • ANSWER:
Don't think of it as dieting first off. Think of it as a lifestyle change because if you want to get the weight off and keep it off you have to be willing to change forever. I found that cutting my fat down to 35 grams a day and calories to about 1500-1600 has made a big difference. Once you hit your goal weight bump it back up to between 60-65 grams of fat and your calories between 2000-2500 depending on how active you are. Also being very active has helped too. Activities you could do with the kids would be to go for walks to the park or go swimming since summer is almost here. Get out and run with them. Also I joined the Y and go work out whenever I can. Luckily my family is very supportive and I have lots of people offering to babysit and I manage to go 5 days a week. In less that 3 months I have lost 30lbs and I feel great. When you make meals try to have a main course, fruit and veggies with very little to no butter. IF I need butter I use a light margarine and only use like a teaspoon. Cut back on your salt also and drink TONS of water to help you stay full and hydrated. Avoid sugary drinks as much as possible. One cup of 100% fruit juice a day would be fine but try to avoid soda. I do drink a regular one every now and then but if I really need the caffeine I try to go diet. Good luck and I hope you reach your goals.

      Find ways to walk
      Visualise the new you
      Set small, achievable targets
      Bonus tips

      * Talk to yourself positively. Drown out that negative voice that says ‘here we go again’ and replace it with ‘I can see the me I want to be’ or another positive message that works for you. If you think it, you’ll start to believe it.

  40. QUESTION:
What can we do individually to change societies unhealthy views on dieting?
Do you think that a hundred years from now these extreme dieting pursuits will be viewed in much the same way as the Elizabethan beauty ideals of receding the woman's hairline, Victorian cinching in the waist, so internal organs are damaged or do not function, or the footbinding.
These are all beauty standards that endanger the health and functioning of women.
Overeating is also a problem but that was not the question.

    • ANSWER:
It's mixed up with so many F@cked up things. There is the insidious beauty industry and the mythology associated with selling women and girls an unhealthy but lucrative body image. There is the corruption and control of food and the feeding of the population staple poisons such as trans fats, sugar and white flour. I think we can impact in our own environments by choosing healthy unprocessed foods ( as much as we can afford - yes they are expensive). We can raise awareness of different concepts of consumerism in relation to food and beauty. We can also nurture girls and boys to have a sense of themselves that is not reliant on a sick pop cultur image. - just a few thoughts - thanks good question.

What are good foods for some one with epilepsy to eat while dieting?
& how often should an epileptic be eating a day while dieting?

    • ANSWER:
Foods high in magnesium. ALL epileptics in clinical trials were found to be deficient in magnesium. Magnesium deficiency alone can cause seizures. Diets should never go below 1200 calories a day for women and 1800 calories a day for men. To go lower will adversely affect your health. Eat regularly to speed up the metabolism to help with weight loss. Eating regularly to keep up your blood sugar is important for seizure control.

  46. QUESTION:
How is exercising better than dieting and surgery when it comes to being fit and healthy and losing weight?
What are the advantages does exercising have that dieting and surgery or pills don't have?

    • ANSWER:
      Pills don't work.
Surgery doesn't address the underlying problems, such as poor diet and lack of exercise.
Gimmick diets generally don't work, and are just a way to make your wallet thinner, not your waist line.

Dieting can be done without doing exercise, but exercise improves your stamina and strength. Weight training can improve your posture, reduce the chance of pulling muscles, and it makes you strong. Cardio exercise increases the health of your heart, and increases your endurance. It also means you can eat a bit more food when you are dieting, plus nice muscle development makes you look good, and increases your confidence.

  47. QUESTION:
How often should you eat food with carbs while dieting?
I know what your saying, you shouldn't eat junk food while dieting. But things similar to popcorn, cake, a cupcake, small things. How often should you eat junk food while dieting?

    • ANSWER:
You know, carbs can also be GOOD carbs. Wholegrain carbohydrates (brown bread etc), should form the basis of every meal you eat. Carbs exist in fruit as well - and you can hardly say fruit it bad for you!

  48. QUESTION:
What would be better? Hardcore dieting with a little exercise or Hardcore exercise and a little dieting?
What would be better? Hardcore dieting with a little exercise or Hardcore exercise and a little dieting?

I know a both are important, but if you had to pick what would be most effective for your body what would you choose?
    I forgot to say that-

I know people who exercise like machines just so they can eat badly.

I also know people who eat the bearest of minimums to avoid exercising!

    • ANSWER:
Although you definitely should have a healthy balance of both what you eat is 80% of being healthy. I would say that eating right with a little exercise would be better than the other way around. If something should happen and you can't exercise anymore, you'll still be eating everything you did before and gain weight back because you can't workout.

I hope this is a hypothetical question; you should be doing both. I hope you know that.

      Good Luck.

      *EDIT*
I hope you do not listen to 'Contradiction'. I know everyone has their own way of losing weight and that's fine, I respect that, but that is not healthy. Don't skip meals. I did NOT get in the shape I am in now by skiping meals and not working out, so I know first hand that this is wrong. You might lose weight very quick by not eating, but you'll be sick, tired and you'll sleep less. Eventually you're going to give up and go back to your old eating habits and gain back twice the weight. How do I know? I've been there.....4 times. I did it right the last time I started a weight loss plan and this time it worked and the weight STAYED off.
