Diet Plans

Child obesity is on the rise in the United States. As a matter of fact, it’s been a growing problem for quite a few years now. Several of the factors that play into this predicament are the ever-popular ‘supersizing’ of everything – and not just the items at the fast food chain. Households where both parents work and the kids don’t have enough healthy foods to snack on when they’re home alone contribute to the problem, in addition to the lack of education our children are getting regarding healthy eating habits. With that said, one of best things you can do for your kids is to communicate with them and let them know what and why certain foods are good or bad for them. If you’re at a loss for words and/or information, start by obtaining one of the free healthy diet plans that are available online.

One place to get a really good healthy diet plan for your kids is at ediets.com. They’ve got an entire area called ‘Trim Kids’ that is dedicated to children’s eating habits and weight issues. By filling out and submitting the free profile on the ediets site, you’ll receive a free assessment in addition to all kinds of information on what the appropriate healthy weight is for kids of different age ranges, as well as advice on how to teach your kids about weight control. They also provide specialized menu options based on your child’s profile with recipes that you can make at home and even get the kids to help prepare. You can also sign up for their free Healthy Kids newsletter to keep the information flowing.

Another great resource to not only get free healthy diet plans for children, but an abundance of health-related information is KidsHealth.com. There’s all kinds of important topics and facts there including a BMI (Body Mass Index) chart for the different age groups as well as advice on age-appropriate dietary habits. The site also offers guidance on how to set up a healthy diet plan for your kids by incorporating the recommended daily allowances and control of portion sizes. You can also investigate ways to get your children moving as part of their daily regimen by checking out the Kid’s Fitness section of the site. And the home page itself is split into three areas – parents, kids and teens – so that you and your children can learn about healthy living and eating together.

Fit and Healthy Kids is one more online resource that will provide you with the specifics on kid’s health in the 6-12 year-old age range. They offer all sorts of valuable info in addition to recipes to help you determine your own free, healthy diet plan that will work best for your family. There’s also news on all the latest kids health statistics and a great selection of information to keep them fit and active as well.

Browse around online and see for yourself all of the fantastic information the world wide web has to offer to assist you in working towards keeping your family healthy. And always make sure to consult a doctor if your children have certain allergy or health concerns that need to be addressed before implementing any new or free healthy diet plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
    diet plans?
I'm trying to set up a diet plan to help me lose weight. I plan on walking everyday to begin with. Does anyone have any plans that have worked for them?

    • ANSWER:
Eating smart with the daily walking sounds good:

The natural “diet”: Eat, drink, and be merry

Eat smart – well-balanced meals, cut out any unnecessary calories (snacking just because), eat when you are hungry (grumbling stomach, hunger pains) and only eat until you are satisfied (not a bite more), 5-6 smaller meals is better than 3 larger ones. Also, stop eating 2-3 hours before bed – you should be slightly hungry at bed time

Drink plenty of water, not only to stay hydrated, but its important for weight loss, including helping the muscles tone and suppressing hungry. (Tip – the lighter your urine the more hydrated you are.)

Be merry – in other words exercise, not only is it needed for weight loss, it releases chemicals in your brain and makes you more happy (some of it is addicting which is known to a lot as “runner’s high”). 30 minutes of cardio is recommended daily, and a good work out program uses cardio and weight training (even if it’s just toning – light weights, more reps). Do something you enjoy and it will be easier to stick it out.

  2. QUESTION:
    Diet plans?
Do any of you know any good diet plans? I want to lose at least 20 pounds in a month and a half because I have to get in a dress. Any suggestions? I do cardio 3 times a week and work out 2 days a week, and I have decided that I need to do more cardio during the week...so it's not like I don't exercise, I just have really bad eating habits and don't know of any good diets. And also, I hate drinking only water, and I'm addicted to pop. Any good drinks you can think of with low calories? No diet coke/pepsi though...thanks in advance =)

    • ANSWER:
      Free Diet Do's:

Eat small, frequent meals throughout the day

Each meal should contain protein, fat and carbohydrates

Reduce intake of sugar and high starch carbohydrates (bread, rice, potatoes and pasta) at night

Increase intake of fruits, vegetables and fiber

      Free Diet Helpful Hints:

One of the most important keys to following a successful nutritional program is preparation. Keep healthy food available for each meal to prevent simply eating what is convenient. Give your free diet some thought and plan out what you want to eat for each meal and snack during the day. Prepare foods in bulk, if necessary, for each week. Also remember that the way in which you prepare foods is just as important as the food that you choose. Choose baking, broiling and grilling over frying and stay away from rich sauces.

I am 15, 5'0 and have a small build. I currently weigh 127 pounds. I would LOVE to weigh 115, well actually I would love to weigh 110 but lets start out easy haha! Since January 1st, I have lost a total of 40 pounds, but now with school starting again I would LOVE to lose the final 12 plans. I currently do Dance Dance Revolution EVERYDAY for 5 miles (it calculates how many miles you jog doing it) and I am starting to do 100 crunches and 25 push ups again (I stopped for a while because I got lazy during the summer - who doesn't! haha!) But anyways, does anyone have any GOOD diet plans? I am going to start making myself eat less carbs (I currently have been eating a lot, and I am going to make myself drink 8 glasses of water everyday) But is there anythign else I can do? Please help! Don't tell me I'm not overweight like some have done in the past..I know I am...I am also short so its worse! But please help! 4. QUESTION:
What are good healthy diet plans for men?
Does anyone know of any good healthy diet plans for men. A healthy diet plan that is not boring and has many varieties of food.

    • ANSWER:
First thing you need to understand about your diet is too much sugar in your blood will make you fat no matter what diet you are on or how much you work out. Too many ketones in your blood will prevent you from using the sugar in your blood as energy. Too few ketones in your blood will cause you to burn your blood glucose off too fast. So you need to eat small portions of carbs and protein about every 3 hours.
Another thing to know is that trans fat, hydrogenated oil and polyunsaturated fat causes type 2 diabetes. To raise your metabolism stop eating ANYTHING that has these in them. Polyunsaturated fat is ok in small quantities now and them. Also Cholesterol is a key thing. Bad cholesterol is high in red meats, dark meats, pork and even turkey and chicken breast. These types of cholesterol get inside the cell and clog it up. This prevents the cell from being able to accept sugar and burn it off. Where as the trans fats and hydrogenated oils form plaque on top of the cell wall and prevents insulin from being to stick to the cell therefore preventing sugar from being absorbed by the cell. These are the things that lower your metabolism rate as you get older and lead to heart disease and diabetes. To avoid this simply avoid these fats and cholesterols.
Any modified food starch, flour, enriched flour, corn starch, potato starch, high fructose syrups etc. all will raise your blood sugar levels higher and faster than pure sugar will. So watch out for things that say "lite" and "sugar free" and "diet". Many of these things use these to elevate your blood sugars and keep you addicted by tricking you into thinking they are better for you than stuff with sugar in it. That is not to say that sugar is good for you but it is better for you than modified food starch for sure.
You will want to eat 2 green apples a day. The high level of soluble fiber and high level of pectin in them help slow the uptake of sugar into your blood stream. Also lots of green leafy vegetables will provide you with nutrients you need while slowing your sugar uptake. Never eat a carb without eating a protein with it. Never eat any carb that is a simple carb or has a hi glycemic index i.e. corn, potatoes, bread.
Bread is ok if you get 100% whole grain with no additives or preservatives. In fact, this is a necessity. Real peanut butter with no trans fat and no additives is an awesome complex carb. Pecans are magical on blood sugar levels. Eat a handful and if your blood sugar is too high they will lower it. If it is too low they will raise it. And pecans will sustain your blood sugar levels for hours.
You want to have a 3:1 ratio of omega 3 fatty acids to omega 6 fatty acids. So fish without lots of mercury and olive oil for cooking is a must. Flax seeds are also good.
Taking about 10mg of a supplement called MDM, vitamin c, calcium, vitamin D and b12 are all great for making the cell walls more elastic which will raise your metabolism, help rid your body of plaque, and lessen your need for insulin. Another great trick is using about a half table spoon of cinnamon per day. Cinnamon actually has a chemical in it that acts like insulin and reduces the risk of diabetes and speeds up your metabolism.
You want to eat red meat at least once a week and at most a few times a week. Chicken is something to eat at least a few times a week but not more than once a day. Cod, Tilapia and Salmon are the meats of necessity.
Oatmeal is good for slowing the digestive process also, but it also burns off fast into sugar and spikes the blood sugar good. So it is important to not eat more than half a serving at a time and eat it with pecans and protein. Preferably egg whites cooked in olive oil with salsa or fresh veggies.
Greek yogurt is awesome for digestion and low in sugars. SILK is an awesome source of protein and carbs verses high sugar milk (11gm per serving = 1cup, not glass).
Make sure you watch all your pre mixed cooking spices. Most of them have modified food starch.
Beans are a great complex carb. If you are going to eat a potato try to limit to half of a red potato tops before working out. Not all fruits are good. green apples, grapefruit are awesome. Oranges are borderline and most other fruits are high in fructose. Avoid granny smith apples though. Those are horrible on the glycemic index. Broccoli is a must.

I'm in generally good shape but I've been out of commission for a few months now and have put some weight on. Vegetarian Diet Plans HELP I am a vegetarian and need help finding a diet that works?
I am a vegetarian so it is hard for me to find actual diet plans. I was wondering has anyone tried nutisystem and do they have a vegetarian diet and does it work

    • ANSWER:
I believe nutrisystem does have a veggie plan, but diet systems like that do not work in the long run. You need to learn how to create meals for yourself, not have some company pre-make them for you. You need a lifestyle change, not a diet.

What are some good workouts/diet plans to do to lose 10-15 lbs in 4 weeks? (no diets pills, berries, tea, etc)?
I want to lose weight, but I cant waste any money on pills, berries, tea, etc. What are some good diet plans(calorie wise) and exercises to help me lose the weight? I need help soon!

    • ANSWER:
I cannot guarantee anything, but it helped me to try one program. Try it, youe nothing to lose.

Diets have come and gone and a new one will be invented tomorrow promising you everything and delivering very little. That is because they are considered something you go on and then go off. In other words, they are temporary. That is not to say they are useless just that they will never give you continued success unless you change some things permanently.

What is a Diet Good for?

Diets have their place in your weight loss goals. First of all, they can be beneficial to jump starting your metabolism. Kind of a fire starter if you will. A jump-start will give you more energy and the initial weight loss can boost your self-confidence.

However, you will need to be ready to make some whole life changes if you want the results to be permanent. What are some changes you will need to make? Well a lot of that depends on you.

      Lifestyle Changes- Fast Food

Are you a fast food junkie who eats out at least a couple of times per week? If so, you will find that you have plenty of company. Many people are so busy that the drive through is a perfect solution for dinner, lunch and even breakfast. The problem is many have no idea that one meal from a fast food restaurant can contain nearly a whole day's caloric intake.

One popular fast food joint has a burger that is 750 calories! The burger alone is a third of your recommended daily allowance; add the fries and a drink and you are done for the day.

Does this mean you can never have fast food again? Not necessarily, but it will mean that you have to be aware of what you are eating. Most fast food places have a website that contains all the nutritional information for the foods they serve. Check them out then make you a list of "safe" fast foods.

      Exercise Changes

If you never move your body more than from the house to the car to work and back you will have a hard time losing weight and keeping it off. The human body functions best when there are periods of exercise. It increases mood stabilizers in the blood stream and best of all burns calories.

While you are on your diet, take the time to incorporate exercise into your life. You will feel better and increase your weight loss rates exponentially. Start with a walk, park further away from the store or your office. Then as you progress, find time to walk more or jog. Whatever you can comfortably fit in your schedule will be a great place to start.

      Healthy Eating

This is absolutely the most important part of all. While you are on your chosen diet, you will want to become familiar with healthier food choices. Find ways to make your favorite foods better for you. Can you substitute ground turkey for ground beef in some recipes? Learn new recipes that include fresh fruits and vegetables.

You see your body needs several things to function at a healthy level. Proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals just to name a few. You also need certain fats to cushion joints and protect your vital organs. Create a lifestyle eating plan that brings all of these elements into play and you will feel amazing and best of all you will be able to lose weight and keep it off.

Check my source, it might help. Good luck!

  17. QUESTION:
Does anyone know any cheap but effective diet plans?
I was wondering if anyone knows a website that has any free or cheap but effective diet plans I might look into?

    Thanks for your help!! :)
    Dear Colon Cleanse Guy:

STOP spamming EVERY single question on this site pertaining to diets.

    • ANSWER:
If you ask for links in the Diet & Fitness category, you’ll get a lot of spam.
You’d be better off doing your own research online, going through well known magazines or TV shows.

A good healthy diet is never cheap. It’s cheaper to buy junk at a fast food restaurant than to buy fruits and vegetables at the grocery store.

  18. QUESTION:
Any good diet plans or websites for someone who is severely overweight and wants to get motivated?
I am now a whopping 377 lbs and have bad back problems so exercise is almost impossible. I need a strict diet plan and low impact workout plan to get me started. I really need help here. Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
Setting yourself on a strict diet can actually be counterproductive, because many times people find that they can't stick to such a strict regimen and they end up "cheating" on the diet...feeling guilty...and well, you can see how this creates a negative cycle.

Do some research, read labels, etc. Eat a healthy diet without starving yourself. If you are a soda drinker, just replacing soda with water can make a tremendous difference.

Moderate walking daily or every other day would probably be the best exercise for you considering your weight. Someone of your size can actually burn a considerable amount of calories just walking at a moderate pace for 20-30 minutes.

  19. QUESTION:
Anyone know of any Diet & Exersize plans that actually work?
Hi. I was just wondering because I want to lose about 20 Pounds. I was just wondering if you know any good exersizes that you can do at home, and some good diet plans like what to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Running is the best all over fat burner. If you do not like running, have breathing problems or cannot run, you can walk at an incline. For example if you walk on a treadmill at 4 mph at 10 incline for 45 minutes, you have burned 500 calories. Eat mostly fruits, vegetables, and protiens. Try to cut back on sugar or not eat anything full of sugar such as candy, cookies, etc but natural sugars (found in fruit) are fine. Here is a meal plan that will help you lose weight fast and not be too hard to follow:

      BREAKFAST
      1/2 grapefruit
      2 egg whites
      slice of whole wheat toast

      LUNCH
      pear
      banana
      Fiber One bar
serving size bag of Sunchips(your choice of flavor)
      celery with peanut butter

      DINNER
breaded and baked fish (any kind you like) or chicken
peas or any kind of vegetable
      brown rice

      SNACKS
      cottage cheese
      fruit
      vegetables
protien shake (one scoop protien powder, nonfat milk, frozen fruit)

Also make sure you drink enough water. Drink one glass on nonfat skim milk a day or have it in a shake and then drink NOTHING but water. Take your weight and divide it by 2. The convert pounds to ounces. For example, if you weighed 150 lbs then divide by 2 = 75 lbs then convert to ounces - 75 ounces of water a day. Make sure to drink that much water every day.

      Good luck :)

  20. QUESTION:

Im looking for some good diet plans to help me loose my baby weight, ive looked online but you have to pay for them. Im a vegetarian who eats no meat but does eat dairy products.

    • ANSWER:
This one works for me. Cut out the dairy, don't use oil or fat when cooking, make sure you eat a big variety of things, eat only small amounts of oil rich foods (nuts, seeds, olives etc), eat lots and lots of fruit and veg and whole grains (brown rice, wholemeal pasta and bread) so you don't get hungry, and regularly do some exercise. It is important that you eat a wide variety of different things.

  21. QUESTION:
What are some good workouts/diet plans to do to lose 40-45lbs in 3months? (no diets pills, berries, tea, etc)?
I want to lose weight, but I cant waste any money on pills, berries, tea, etc. What are some good diet plans(calorie wise) and exercises to help me lose the weight? I need help soon! Its summer I have to loose some weight.

    • ANSWER:
Interval Training is a great workout because its essential in burning fat. Heres an example of a interval workout you can do:

      Monday
OneWalk 10 minutes. Next 6 minutes alternate running 1 minute and walking 1 minute. Walk 4 minutes. Stretch.
      Tuesday
      Strength Training Program.
      Stretch.
      Wednesday
      Walk 10 minutes.
Next 8 minutes alternate running 1 minute and walking 1 minute.
      Walk 2 minutes.
      Stretch.
      Thursday
      Strength Training Program.
      Stretch.
      Friday
Walk 8 minutes. Next 10 minutes alternate running 1 minute and walking 1 minute.
      Walk 2 minutes.
      Stretch.
      Saturday
      Rest Day
      Sunday
      Walk 6 minutes.
Next 12 minutes alternate running 2 minutes and walking 2 minutes.
      Walk 2 minutes.
      Stretch.

Weight training is also very important so you can tone your muscles, the more muscle you have the more calories you burn in a day. Now your diet should consist of lots of fruits, veggies and lean meats. It also helps to eat 5-6 "small" meals a day so you can keep your metabolism going, Drink plenty of water (64 oz) take a multivitamin and get plenty of sleep. Good Luck!

  22. QUESTION:
Does anyone know of any good diet plans?
I have a family so it's hard for me to find a diet that has meal plans that I can do. I don't know the first thing about cooking healthy so meal plans, & shopping lists would be great but the only ones I've seen are for a single person not a whole family.

    • ANSWER:
There is a site online that provides meal plans, calorie trackers, recipes with nutrtional information. There are motivating articles, & support groups. You start by entering your current weight and then your goal weight. It will tell you how many calories you need to consume in a day to loose the weight within a desired time-frame. They do not encourage you to shoot for more than 2 lbs a week. It has a 4 step process to get you started making gradual changes in your eating and lifestyle to help you acheive your goal and maintain your weight loss. It is a free program and there are not 200 million adds or pop-ups. You can set the meals you like and you can print a shopping list. I don't think the shopping list is for a whole family but if you set a meal plan and print the list you should be able to easily purchase the amount you need for your family. Oh, and it is not low-carb or low-fat or any trend it is about learning a healthy balanced diet, portion control and incorporting exercise into your life.

One: You can eat very healthy . Such as fruits, vegetables , and so on . I know this seems very hard. The catch is that you can pick one day where you can eat whatever you want. But on that day you do not over do it . Also you while you eat healthy you have to do exercise . You don't have to exercise every single day but maybe 3 or 4 times a week .

Two : Have you ever heard of Herbal Life ? Well thats another thing you can use . It cost some money though. But it really works. My friend was using it and in 2 months she lost about 20 pounds. This is how it works . You have to buy several things of herbal life though. Theres this thing where you eat for breakfast & diner . For lunch you eat anything you want . Then before you go to sleep you drink the tea. There is also a water that you drink . This is all the process of herbal life. Very simple . :]

  25. QUESTION:
When I go on diet plans, I lose muscle and not fat, yet I work out 3-4 times a week!?
I go on diet plans to lose some body fat but my muscles end up shrinking!

I have a solid weightlifting plan but I have no idea why I'm my muscles are looking smaller and why my fat percent hasn't gone down.

    • ANSWER:
You might be mixing cardio and weightlifting on the same day, which is terrible for toning up and/or gaining mass.

Cardiovascular exercises are catabolic, which burns down muscle and fat for fuel. Notice how long distant runners are skinny.

If you are doing cardio in the middle or after your weightlifting, it will be using your already worn down muscles for fuel, which makes your entire lifting efforts done for nothing and unable to grow.

If you shall do cardio during your workouts, dedicated a day solely to cardio, or do very light cardio before your workouts with minimal effort and exertion.

Personally, I would do no more than a mile at walking speed before my lifts if I must do cardio.

  26. QUESTION:
I would like some diet & exercise plans that are healthy please?
I just want to lose a few pounds and tone out my legs, butt, stomach area mostly. I've already stopped drinking soda and I only drink water now.

But what are some diet plans? Foods to eat? Foods to NOT eat? Foods to eat now and then?
Exercise plans? What can I do to lose a few pounds? Then what to do to tone up?

    • ANSWER:
A variety of veggies are always a good choice. I like to put a lot of fiber in my diet in the mornings and drink a lot of water to keep me regular.

Some of the foods you want to avoid have:
      -a lot of saturated fats
      -sodium
      -sugar

Also limit your white bread, rice, and pasta. Try for whole grain instead.

Lean meats such as chicken and turkey are great for protein. Nuts such as almonds and walnuts are good now and then.

I think as a general rule, do an activity for 30-60 minutes a day. It doesn't have to be at the gym. It could be a walk if you don't have time for working out, dancing, or any kind of activity where you are moving your body.

  30. QUESTION:
What are some good diet plans for teenagers ?
I'm 16 and want to lose a bit of weight. I want a diet plan i can follow and a routine. Any suggestions ?

    • ANSWER:
Calm down :) determination and confidence are two AMAZING ways to be happy and improve your look. First, I must stress NOT to go on a commercial diet. They damage your body more than you can imagine. Eat very healthy. Fruits, vegetables, meat (grilled and baked, not fried), and dairy. Do not worry about a snack or two. Don't eat 3 heavy meals a day, that is very important! Graze on healthy foods a bit all throughout the day. And for exercise, don't do work outs for bulking up. Try yoga, running, swimming, and other cardio exercises. Some sit ups and crunches, and some push ups, but go slowly with both. Running, jump-rope, swimming, hula hoops, and things that get your heart racing are great for toning your body. drink water as much as you need while exercising and a lot afterward. Water is a natural cleanser and will completely restore your body if you drink the right amounts. Also, something that has gotten me in shape quickly and effectively (and is very fun) is erotic dancing. Take a class. Rent a video. Look some moves up online. And just put on some music and dance. It makes you loose and rhythmic and gets you in touch with your sexy, feminine side. Very fun. Don't panic, and be sure to relax as well as work hard! Good luck! You can always email me if you need further assistance :)

  32. QUESTION:
Does anyone have any good suggestions for diet plans?
I currently started working out 4-5 times a week. I wouldn't say that I am a "fat" person. I just have the fat that covers the muscle that I want to get rid of. I want to get on a better diet plan but I am always so lost on what I should be eating to help in burning fat. I am not a fan of all carb, or all this or that diets etc. I just want something simple, but not something where I have to completely cut something out of my diet. Anyone have any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
My friend went to a dietian and this is what she told her to do:

For breakfast have fruits and yogurt or healthy cereal like Special K or Shredded Wheat (try not adding sugar either)

Eat a salad for two meals a day for a week. You can add things like turkey and small amounts of egg and cheese if you want but try and stay away from any acidic dressing (like vinegar).

For snacks eat fruits and veggies or a snack bar; the ones she found most similar to the ones her doc gave her were South Beach Diet Bars and they were a lot cheaper than she was paying for the other ones!

Stay away from caffeine, sugar (if you must have sugar use brown sugar), no sweets (if you must have sweets have dark chocolate), bleached flour (have whole wheat as a substitute; wheat pasta (small amounts) and wheat flour) and very little red meat (try only having it once or twice a week WITH your meal not AS a meal).

This is straight from the dietians mouth and she lost 10lbs the first week. So it does work, promise!!

A parent seeking help with healthy diet plans for kids?
I have 2 girls that need to lose weight. The biggest problem is finding good healthy diet plans for kids. I need a great site that has good tasting healthy diet plans for kids.

    • ANSWER:
I think that getting kids on a "diet" per se can be harmful...they don't need to be forced into a rigid model of eating and thinking about food as "good" or "bad" while they are children. This can lead to eating disordered behavior as adults, to guilt and distorted body images. Make only healthy foods available in your household. No sodas, candies, cookies, lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and do not take them out to fast food places or give them money to go to these places. They will lose weight if they do not consume these foods and start getting more active--signing up for soccer, tennis, etc. Bringing them to a nutritionist is definitely preferable to bringing them to a diet center.

  37. QUESTION:
Which of the diet plans is one that you could do for the rest of your life?
I need to lose weight, but I don't want a temporary diet or one where I have to buy special food. I need a diet plan that I can integrate into my life that will help me control fat, sugar, calories, etc. I've heard about Weight Watchers but don't really know how people do on it. Thanks for any good tips.

    • ANSWER:
Utterly horrible advice from Gus. He may have lost weight but it won't sustain b/c there are too many flaws in his "diet".

I'll say this and be frank. Try and stay away from the processed crap as much as possible. I know everyone loves junk food but that stuff wasn't meant to be put in our bodies. Eat real food. Vegetables, fruits, whole grains and lean proteins such as chicken breasts, turkey, fish, eggs, tuna, stuff like that.

Eat small meals every 2-4 hours with a little bit of protein in every meal. Stay away from the soda and fruit juices. A higher protein lower carb diet (vegetables, brown rice) doesn't spike your insulin as much and will help you live a healthier lifestyle.

What are some good diet and workout plans to get ripped to?
I used the Hydroxycut Hardcore diet plan with this workout plan: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/wotw12.htm and they worked out good. Any suggestions on what to try next.

    • ANSWER:
Burn more calories than you eat.

      Cut your fat intake.

Eat three cups of fat free low cal yogurt a day (make sure it has live cultures in it) and pineapples. This helps you break down your food and promotes weight loss. You still need to eat low fat proteins. (baked and grilled fish and chicken and beans)

Do 45-60 min. of aerobic exercise a day (preferably before you eat in the morning). This will attack the fat. Try to supplement your training with some running, running stairs or hills, and cycling. Mix it up, it will keep your body guessing.

Do 30 min of weight training three times a week. This will build lean muscle which will in turn burn fat.

Keep moving all the time. Tap you feet while at the computer, tap you hands on your legs while walking. Keep moving and keep burning calories.

I lost 40 lbs in two months and have kept it off for 18 more months doing this. I did not lose any strength and gained more energy. I also took my body fat % from 30% to 10% and my waist from 36 inches to 31 inches.

I can see my 4 and sometimes 6 pack.

  40. QUESTION:
Any diet plans for someone with a thyroid condition?
I have a thyroid condition that messes with my weight and hormones a lot. I have been trying to find some sort of diet plan that goes well with someone that has graves disease. Any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
After extensive research, I have learned the right nutritition, proper exercise and life balance are very important for those of us with these conditions. I have found that if you eat a high fiber diet, limit dairy and carbs that my body seems to work better.

Also a mental and physical tune-up are imperative. Try to relax, meditate, try yoga or tai chi-whatever works for you to coordinate your mindset with your body.

I wanted to share with you a weightloss/nutritional lifestyle a girfriend of mine recently uncovered. A good friend of mine was recently diagnosed with hashimoto thyroitism. My girlfriend also wanted to lose weight and simply feel better. About three months ago, she implemented a customized nutritional support system that is personalized for each persons individual body. My girlfriend reports great results. She was really excited when she initially dropped a ton of weight initially, I believe somewhere around 20 pounds, before evening out to a weekly weight loss average of 3-5 pounds that is still continuing. Her goal was to loose somewhere around 60 pounds total.
The "puffiness" and "bloating" appearance she had experienced throughout her body but especially in her face, neck, arms and belly is finally gone! I don't recognize her anymore, she looks fabulous and years younger!

Another report coming from her that really intrigued me was the fact that she had boundless energy throughout the day without those "dips" in energy levels (she would crash mid day and that tired feeling would leave her craving caffeine). No more sleepless nights for her! I don't know about you, but I am one of those who can't rest well at night.
Her TSH levels are incredibly low! She reported that witihn a month of her new regimen her T3 and T4 levels lowered and remain steadily low. Her own endocrinologist was amazed at her rapid healing and the fact that she is getting better on a daily basis, her body is starting to repair itself. She has not relapsed once!

After learning of her quick results (she has only been on her exercise and nutritional support program less than three months), I will be trying this program as I have almost all of her symptoms, plus some!

PLEASE NOTE: To lose weight you must exercise and eat properly. Having a nutritional program will enhance your results but will not be a free pass to eat the foods that are not healthy or beneficial to your body--whether or not you have a thyroid condition! I highly reccomend seeking a comprehensive wellness lifestyle plan (mind, body and soul).

Sorry about my long post but I am so excited to meet others who may be having the same challenges and I feel so blessed to maybe have an answer that might work for you.

Let me know if any of this information helps as I know the symptoms with Graves can also be found with those that have Hashimoto.

  41. QUESTION:
Diet plans that are easy to follow and work?
I am 16 and gained a lot of weight in the last year because I have been really sick. I used to eat really healthy and run but recently (from being sick) I have become really lazy. But I kept getting bigger and bigger as I got older. I blamed it on everything. I tried all the fad diets and none of them ever did me any good. I was always left dissapointed in the results.

I am a huge oprah addict, and one day she was talking with Dr. Oz about the powers of acai berry for Fast weight loss. They were talking about how all of the celebrities are now using it to lose weight quickly for their movie roles.

The only downside is that it works very well, and can be quite expensive. That is because it Works.

  43. QUESTION:
What Are Some Diet Plans that Are High in Protein?
I'd like to lose 14-15 pounds, but I'm also looking to alter my eating habits. I eat healthy, but I have difficulty getting that "full sensation," and thus always sneak in unnecessary snacks throughout the day. Aside from the junk food I sneak in and unnecessary calories, etc., the majority of what I eat is protein (salads, fruits, meat, eggs). I could probably just give the weight loss a try on my own, but I'd like the assistance of a diet plan to help me plan out my meals, at least until I lose the weight; By that time, I'll probably have become accustomed to the new lifestyle. What protein diets have you had success with, and recommend?

Going on holiday next Saturday and want to have a detox, anyone know of any diet plans i could follow?
Im thinking i need a serious health kick for next week... most of the time i feel sluggish and bloated. i want to detox my body but dont have any diet plans? could anyone suggest one i could try please?

    • ANSWER:
A raw food diet detox (plant-based, not including raw meat and eggs). IMHO, I feel that this is the only way to safely detox. A raw vegan diet, will help the body naturally purge toxins while (and this is a very important part) producing an alkalized state within our body. Our bodies, because of the way westernized cultures eat, are very acidic. An acidic body is a sick body whereas, in an alkaline body, disease cannot live!

Exercise and diet plans according to your body type?I dont understand this?
I just read on a random website that a lot of people dont loose weight because they are doing the wrong exercise and diet plans for their body type/ shape, but they didnt elaborate because one had to pay for this info and im broke lol. So im asking here what would be the ideal exercise and diet for someone whos 5,8 tall , 143 lbs of weigh aprox and with an hourglass figure?

    • ANSWER:
Nutrition is a personal thing and in some ways are to do more with genetics i.e. if your chinese and your ancestors have been living off of rice for the past thousand years then you'd be able to handle more of this food without the side affects like fat gain, tiredness, extreme hunger etc as say some cannibal living in the amazon living off of meat.

Theres a few ways you can find out your macro's, some use a gluco meter to assess insulin tolerance, generally the lower the result the more sensitive you are and the more carbs you can eat this result can change over the weeks and months though depending on your activity level. Or just playing with the macro's yourself, start with a 60:20:30 split of carbs:protein:fats for 2 months and record body fat level and weight gain then change this to another extreme like 40:30:30 and compare the results if your still not happy find a medium like 30:30:30.

Also its a good idea to find out about any food intolerances you may have as this can slow metabolism (visit a GP). Changing your macro's about will cause side effects initially over several weeks but after this period if your still feeling rough etc then id suggest re-evaluating. If calories are at the right level and your not taking any medication then generally excess carbs can make you feel lethargic and moody(same if your eating too little) low satiaty, protein can constipate you and fat can possibly give you diahrea or plug you up as well (note you can experience all or some of this when you change your macro's initially).

As far as exercise being person specific to a point its true, theres certain weaknesses people may have over others i.e. boxers will have shorter/tighter chest muscles pulling harder on the back making the back weaker footballers will have stronger quads than hams also causing imbalances. So the person in question may need to add specialist exercises to help with the imbalance. But if this is some new hype suggesting a certain exercise will work personally better for you for losing bodyfat then i wouldnt know about any of that and so take with a pinch of salt.

The link below might help you with exercise.

Anyone know of any good post-pregnancy diet plans or programs that worked?
Hello...I'm a semi-active 29 year old mom. I usually do cardio 4 times a week and weights 2 days a week before I got pregnant. Currently, I'm about to give birth in less than 3 weeks, but I want to already have my diet plan in order. I will need to lose about 35 pounds. So please give me any good diet suggestions or programs you have used, so I can plan accordingly.

    • ANSWER:
      Hi!

Have you ever heard of ‘Fat Loss 4 Idiots’ diet program? It's one of the most sellable e-books ever written that talks about losing fat easily and quickly. If you wish, you can check it all out, there’s a link to a great blog in my source.
      So, what is in it?

Generally, the Fat Loss for Idiots is a guide to losing weight and fat as the name implies. In the book, you will be able to read the rules involved in weight loss. These rules, also known as "10 Idiot Proof Rules of Weight Loss" are easy to understand and follow as they are stated in the simplest terms.

Another thing that the e-book contains is the diet generator. The book will give you meal plans that will last you for 11 days. So for each day, the book has a menu for you to follow.

      What does it promise?

Fat Loss for Idiots promises a lot of things. For the most part, it promises to make you really lose weight. To be specific, the ebook is able to make you lose 9 pounds every eleven days.

Another big promise the ebook gives is that it can make you lose weight using a healthy meal plan. Many weight lose plans make you lose weight by skipping and scrimping on some things that your body needs such as fat. With the ebook, you can be sure that you won't be having any of this. As a matter of fact, it will give you a menu of foods that are complete of the nutrients that your body needs. With this, you can be sure that even if you are losing weight, you are also well nourished.

Another thing that the ebook promises is that it makes room for those who are on a vegetarian diet. Unlike other weight loss guides that specifically tell you certain things such as forcing you to eat meat, the Fat Loss for Idiots respects your diet preferences. With this, anybody can take part of the program.

  49. QUESTION:
How can I lose weight really fast? I need to lose 20+ pounds. Workouts are what I need more than diet plans.?
I need workouts that can help me lose weight quickly. Diets are ok, but I'm fairly young and I can't use my money on weightloss diet pills, acai berry, tea, etc etc. so can u help? I'm planning on working out every day so if you could help me out that would be great! PLZ!!!

    • ANSWER:
EXERCISE, is key. I would start off with running/jogging every day.
This will get your blood flowing and boost your metablolism. You will also start to feel better and want to exercise.
Then try doing some crunches/sit ups this will help build some muscle.
Bicycling, jump roping, and cleaning(believe it or not) also will help you lose calories.

EATING HABITS, that's a major thing people forget about as thier livers progress. As a kid, you were able to eat fast food and chips all the time and not gain much weight. Now that you are getting older your body needs more care. Try eating lean meats or tofu, drinking lots of water, cutting out sodas (They are full of sugar that turns to fat, and no diet soda isn't okay, it's worst.), eat fruits and vegtables, and maybe try taking a multi-vitamin or something of the kind.

SLEEP, is also a contributing factor to weight gain, when you sleep, believe it or not, you lose weight, BUT this does not mean to sleep all day long because that's bad too.

EATING, is important, DO NOT starve yourself, it will lead to more problems and few pounds will be lost. You should eat 4-5 SMALL meals a day. This will help boost your immune system.

SNACKING is bad, but can be good depending on what you choose.
Pretzels, yogurt, trail mix, protien drink, smoothies, cereal, non-fat milk, fruit, vegtables, salad, and granola bars are just some of the many good snaking foods.

BREAKFAST, is the most important meal of your day, believe it or not, it's what starts your metabolism. So, eat breakfast everyday, but make good choices. These include: low-fat milk, juice, water, eggs, lean breakfast meats, waffles (in moderation), etc.

      Hope this helps

  50. QUESTION:
Which are the best and effective diet plans at the moment?
I'm not planning to go crazy or anything. I actually can't live without food. Seriously.
My BMI is 27.4 and I am getting desperate now.

Been going to the gym, jogging. Even tried Weight Watchers which gave me small results, but it wasn't for me.

So which is the most effective diet plan? My mum will also be doing this, as I need to lose weight for college after having 3 operations, and the fat has just come on through bed rest and it isn't shifting at all.

    Thanks. x
