      I don't recommend the master cleanse diet. Have you tried it before? I remember how last winter I wanted to do it for a week just for starters. The first day was so painful. I got such a bad headache and my breath got icky because I wasn't eating anything (did you know eating can actually help your breath to an extent?). I've read of other people complaining about the headaches and what not from doing that cleanse. I'd scratch it from your list of things to try because it's just not really worth it. If you want to clean out your system, try drinking senna teas like once (maybe even twice) every few weeks....much more effective.

      I wouldn't advice you to do any water fast or veggie fasting weight loss before you start out your lemonade cleanse diet. What i'm worried most is you are not getting enough nutrients and your poor gastric might not be able to take it.

      It would be much better if you start to consume a low fat diet ,cut down the intake of processed food e.g sausages and proceed to the lemonade diet right after. As far as most dieters are concerned,this diet plan will assist their body to expel the toxins ( it is known that such toxins in our bodies are the key factors for making us overweight)

      I tried it. A lot of people from my work were on it and they said they lost a lot of weight. It was horrible. I tried it for I think 10-14 days (it was a while ago, i cant remember exactly). I lost 5 or 6 lbs on it, but it was not worth it to me-especially for what you have to do! I think maybe that the other people that I knew on it lost a lot more weight than me because they all had a lot more to lose than me. They were all very overweight. I am not, I do not have the much weight to lose, its more of a personal preference than a need. So I have heard it works, but I did not like it.

      The main purpose of the Master Cleanse is not to lose weight but to detox. If you don't eat a healthy nutrient dense diet the master cleanse will not give you permanent weight loss.     I'm taking a bowel cleanse powder mixed with juice + a diet of fruit, veg, whole grains, nuts and legumes. The powder contains flax seed, apple pectin, bentonite clay, psyllium husk and seed, slippery elm, marshmallow root, fennel seed and activated willow charcoal. I feel mildly nauseous on and off through out the day usually about one hour after taking the powder and in the morning. My appetite has been abnormally poor since starting the diet.       Use a ten oz glass of water for a single serving. Or you can use 60 oz of water for a full days worth.
      And for the salt water flush use sea salt NOT table salt. Table salt will dehydrate you and can mess up your kidneys. People should stay away from table salt altogether.

It will cleanse the problematic abdominal areas to where you may loose between 5 and 10 pounds, but not a significant amount of weight as if you were working out doing cardio exercising that is the only way to increase your heart rate to in turn increase your metabolism. I would not be upset with 137lbs at 5'5" but if you are looking to loose on average of 5 more pounds, the master cleanse will most likely do the trick. To be upfront, if you workout on lets say a stationery bicycle or on a treadmill doing cardio - it will only take 2 weeks at the very maximum to loose 5 lbs or more. Good luck.

      I know you didn't ask whether you should or shouldn't but I will give you my opinion anyway.
      The master cleanse or starvation diet you are referring to is a calorie deficit program.
      You will lose a few pounds but when you start eating again you will probably gain more weight.
      The signal these starvation diets send the body is that there is no more food available.
      The body immediately stores any fat it can and begins to burn muscle mass for fuel not the stored fat (metabolism). Stored fat will be used as a last resort when needed.
      When you start eating again the body immediately stores any food as fat because it doesn't know when the next famine is coming.
      The complete opposite of what you are trying to accomplish.
      If you really want a healthy body for good drink lots of ice water, 100 oz per day. Eat a healthy breakfast to kick start the metabolism. Eat a snack every two hours if possible. Eat three good meals a day, the largest at lunch. No food after 8 p.m. Maybe plain popcorn air popped or cooked in canola oil only.
      You need to eat tons of fiber. It cleans the system hourly and accelerates the metabolism.
      Eat for health.

      Yes it is necessary, it's either that or an enema.

      For teas, Super Dieter's Tea or Smooth Move Tea by Traditional are the most common and easiest to find. But any senna based tea will do. I do not find it necessary to do both the sea salt drink and the laxative tea, one or the other is fine. And you probably won't have to use it every day, by day 3 or 4, you really should have flushed everything out of you colon. This is gross, but when only liquid is coming out, you can ditch the laxative.

      My wife recently went through the exact same plan you're talking about, with only a few exceptions that I think will help make your dieting process much less painful and the results that much more noticeable.

      1. The Master Cleanse diet usually results in the loss of 10-20 pounds, depending on how rigorously you adhere to the plan.
      2. The Grade B syrup is a must - in fact, I actually recommend doubling the amount - it'll increase results substantially.
      3. Usually regular syrup is still acceptable for losing weight - what my wife did was use about 2.5 times the amount of the syrup and she still had much more control over her dieting. Just make sure not to go overboard.

      A good healthy diet high in fiber, lean meats, eggs, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, antioxidant foods, healthy beverages and low in added sugar and salt help people lose weight, gain weight, lower cholesterol, increase energy, improve brain function, lower blood pressure, reduce cancer risk, heart disease and stroke risk, and have a more positive lifestyle!
      You need to eat a lot more food and a lot more fiber!
      Diets that exclude foods from any food group are fad diets and do not lead to permanent weight loss or solve any other health issues.
      First, try to kick your fiber intake to 40 grams of both soluble and insoluble fiber.
      Whatever you do, get your fiber from your food, not from a jar.
      Fruits and vegetables have good fiber in them.
      Try a breakfast cereal with at least 20% of recommended daily allowance of fiber in it. They are usually low in sugar so there is a double benefit. Blueberries or raspberries on top add more fiber and antioxidants. But fresh or frozen, not the kind in syrup.
      Raw nuts are a great source of fiber, healthy fats, and antioxidants. Avocados are the best.

      It depends on how overweight you are to begin with, but on average people lose 2 lbs a day on the Master Cleanse (for the full 10 days). Currently I'm doing the Master Cleanse and I am on Day 9. So far I've lost 13 lbs. I plan on doing the Master Cleanse for 12 or 13 days.

      For the salt water flush, it's 2 level-teaspoons of NON-IONIDIZED sea salt in 1 quart of water (4 cups). Teaspoons, not tablespoons (many pple accidentally think it's tablespoons). Non-Ionidized sea salt will make it easier to drink. You have to drink it as fast as you can. For me, it gave me a gag reflex. I did it for a few days and had to stop. An alternative to the salt water flush is to take the laxative tea instead, which is what I am now doing.

Melon doesnt have much but water, but its ultra low calorie [50 calories per cup for all kinds!] and ridiculously delicious.

      a little over half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper (or 1/10 tsp. per glass) or to taste

      And every morning you have to mix a bit of salt with water and drink it.
      and every night you have to have a cup of a herbal laxative tea.
      Don't do it to lose weight, thats not what it is meant for.. it is after all a "detox" diet.

      I'm currently doing it - I'm on day 10 at the moment. I weighed myself today and I've lost 10 pounds or 4.5 kilos in 10 days.

      You should do the salt water flush first thing in the morning - before drinking anything and you should have a herbal laxative tea in the evening. If you don't like the swf you can instead drink the laxative tea in the morning as well as in the evening.

      I'm doing it for 21 days. Good luck with it. Day 3 was the hardest day for me. It does get easier, stick with it. Make sure you also drink plenty of water in addition to the lemon drink.
