Dietary changes for a person with irritable bowel syndrome can help them alleviate many of their IBS symptoms. A diet for IBS should consist of foods that improve bowel movement and gastrointestinal function, but also exclude those foods that are a trigger for the IBS symptoms.
Foods that are easier to digest and move through the intestines and colon can help improve gastrocolic reflex. Since there is a long list of foods that can generally be safely consumed by a person with IBS, this article is going to look at the foods that can make symptoms worse.
However, before we go over the foods to restrict or avoid, it is important to recognise that each person is likely to have a different reactions to foods. For some, the foods that are restricted may not cause a flare up, and for others there may be other foods that worsen symptoms.
I always recommend that a person with IBS creates a food diary, within which they keep a record of all the foods they eat, what portion size, the time of day they ate the food, and whether they felt stressed or rushed during the meal.
With this information a person will normally, over time, be able to identify trigger foods or conditions that cause their symptoms to worsen and be able to avoid them.
If you can experience any dramatic change in your symptoms while excluding a particular food from your diet, then it could indicate that that particular food is what’s causing the change. If no result is apparent, you can repeat the process and cut out a different food until you can determine which food has an effect on your symptoms.
The foods that you identify as the cause for your IBS symptoms to worsen are usually referred to as ‘trigger foods’ since they trigger your symptoms to appear or get worse.
If bloating and gas is a symptom, then avoid gas-forming foods that cause abdominal bloating and gassiness, allowing air to accumulate in the digestive tract and stomach. Some examples of these foods include broccoli, beans, onions and brussel sprouts.
The foods that cause gas usually have many other health benefits so they should generally only be reduced, unless symptoms are severe.
Foods that are high in fat should be avoided, if not eliminated completely from your diet, since they irritate the intestinal tract and can be difficult to digest. Therefore fried foods should also be avoided, as even though the food itself may not be high in fat, the preparation soaks the food with fat.
Continue reading to discover how you can sign up for the free IBS newsletter and learn more about natural methods to relieve IBS symptoms and what foods are safe.
It follows that that the diet should contain mostly low fat foods, which have a high nutritional content.
Alcohol should be avoided as there if a definite link between alcohol consumption and IBS symptoms flaring up.
Avoid artificial sweeteners and processed foods, and always read the labels on foods, as there are often many hidden ingredients that can trigger symptoms.
Coffee and other caffeinated drinks can trigger symptoms in some people, and they also act as a diuretic, which can encourage constipation.
Red meat, for many people with IBS, has been identifies as a trigger food. Stick with poultry and fish.
Also, many people have a dairy intolerance, which they are not aware of. Try restricting the intake of dairy products and see how that effects IBS symptoms.
The proper diet for IBS is the one that involves the consumption of foods that helps improve bowel movements, and the avoidance of food that only triggers the symptoms. There are more resources below that should help define the mos 00004000 t appropriate plan for your circumstances.

QUESTION:
I want to go on a healthy eating diet but i'm really really fussy !?
I Need to loose a little weight and tone up a bit which is why i joined the gym. I have seen a little bit of a result but I am such a unhealthy eater.. I Am so fussy which makes it hard for me to stick to a healthy diet as i don't like half of the foods. What shall i do about this as I am seriously unhappy with the way i look?-
ANSWER:
You have to change your palate. I didn't like healthy food either until I consistently made it part of my diet. Now junk food tastes terrible. Being 'fussy' is a mental thing and you can get over it. In fact you have to if you want to stay thin and fit. Start by converting the unhealthy foods you eat a bit at a time. Consistently get wheat bread instead of white, every time, no matter what. If you do this, then eventually you will prefer wheat bread. Get the turkey burger every time, and eventually you will not want the beef. It really does work. The idea that you have to have certain foods a certain way is all in your mind, and it can be changed.

QUESTION:
Ordering my bridesmaid dress a size smaller?
I'm in a wedding in February. I've been on a diet and exercise plan for over a month and I have to order the dress in another month. If I keep losing weight like I have been, I'll be down 30lbs by the time I have to order the dress. After I order the dress I'll still be on my diet and exercise plan but there will be four more months until the wedding! I am expecting to be down between 50 and 65lbs by the time the wedding rolls around.I was 205lbs when we picked the dresses and the shop took our measurements, so it's not like I'm trying to get down to 110lbs or anything, which makes my weight loss goal pretty achievable. But if I lose 20-30lbs before I order the dress, then lose another 20-30 after, I should be considerably smaller, right?
How stupid of an idea is it to order the dress a size smaller than I am at the time of ordering given the amount of weight I will lose? I'm going to talk to the bridal shop about this when I order the dress but I wanted to have an idea of what they might say before I go in and ask them at the end of September.
I'm the bride's buddy in dieting and am also her gym partner, and since it's her wedding I'm not going to abandon her. Not to mention the other bridesmaids are all 120lbs at most so I don't want to the whale in the wedding pictures. I'm going to keep going with this. I assume at some point I'm going to have to pause weight loss so I don't have to keep paying for alterations but I want to lose as much as I can before I get to that point.
I just don't want to have to pay for big alterations if the dress comes in and is huge on me. At 205 my dress size is about an 18 (I know bridesmaid dress run smaller than street clothes) but when I'm at 150 I'm a loose 10.
-
ANSWER:
My suggestion is to order the dress in the size you are at the time.
It is very easy to take in a dress, and you can usually take in quite a bit without messing up the dress.
It is NOT easy to take a dress out.Congrats on your weight loss and I am sure it will continue. The only reason I advise against planning on it is life sometimes happens. Things that are beyond our control can get in the way of weightloss (your talking to someone who got hit by a car and couldn't exercise for months, causing 20lbs weight gain). . If you buy the dress the right size, and something happens, you can still wear the dress with no issue. If you order a smaller size and something happens, you are in some trouble.
Also keep in mind that weight does not come off uniformly. You may continue to lose weight, but parts of your body may still need the bigger size, and adjustments on other parts.Order the size that fits you at the time. Arrange for alterations when you lose more weight.

QUESTION:
What are quick diets to jump start a sensible diet plan?
I want a quick 1-7 day quick diet to jump start my regular diet. Just to flush out toxins and to get my body ready for diet and workout. Please help-
ANSWER:
changing your diet to only healthy foods is the best thing you can do and will ensure you will lose weight if combine with walking everyday especially.you can eat how much you like if you stay within these 3 guidelines and still lose fat naturally and gradually. You should lose 10lbs each month on average.
1.eat only steamed lean meats, eggs, healthy fruits ,vegetables, nuts, grains (Asian basmati or jasmine rice gives lots of energy and can be found at your local oriental/asian market or some super markets), & yogurt..2. drink only water, juice, & milk..3. walk or do some physical exercise 1-3 hour every day.
(btw, recommend you also to buy an electronic food steamer and a rice cooker ((Both Very cheap)) .which, used together make it very easy to prepare very nutritional, healthy meals ,,add a bit of olive oil , diced garlic, pepper, sliced lemon and spices on top of steamed vegeatables, fish or chicken to add more taste if wish as these are healthy too.)

QUESTION:
What diet should i take to regain the lost nutrients after semen ejaculation ?
I am 28 years Old . I 've been having sex regularly(2-3 times a week) since last 12 years ...
After ejaculation my body (espically legs) start feeling weak . Please tell me what diet should i take to regain the lost energy quickly so that i can have sex 2-3 times in a day without any sign of weakness. In other words kindly tell me how to regain the nutrients quickly that were lost after semen ejaculation by eating good (vegetarian) diet ?-
ANSWER:
Your legs being shaky after sex is from muscle fatigue. The muscles aren't used to working as long and as much as you forced them to do during sex -or- your body is still recovering from the general exertion of having sex.It has nothing to do with nutrients or the fact that you ejaculated.
To reduce the chance of this occurring, you need to get more exercise and build up your stamina for physical exertion.
Note that this is not going to let you have sex more often, that's completely different than having muscle fatigue. How often you can have sex in a day is related to how fast your body recovers from having sex and how aroused you can become after having had sex.
You may want to switch off of a vegetarian diet and see if that helps. Vegetarian diets do not provide all the things that a person needs, though it can come close.

QUESTION:
How important is the diet when it comes to a workout plan?
I read these magazines that have these excellent workout plans. I do the workouts, but I don't do the crazy diet that they show with it. I don't eat a lot of egg whites and things like that, but I do make sure I eat healthy and drink protein shakes like "Muscle Milk". Is it important to follow the diet plan that they have in these magazines? I mean, prisoners don't follow a series diet plan and they come out pretty ripped.-
ANSWER:
Well me being a competitive bodybuilder, me and my friends at the gym always acknowledge diet as the most important aspect to bodybuilding. If you don't eat properly then you wont get the results you want; for example if you are wanting to get ripped than you need to cut back on the calories and increase your protein intake. If you want to add mass then you need to increase your caloric intake and eat plenty of carbs. Remember weather your a bodybuilder or not, you are what you eat, and if you don't diet properly then you wont get the results that you are looking for in the gym.

QUESTION:
Can Diet pills risk your chances of ever becoming pregnant?
I Am about to start taking diet pills after trying to diet for the last 2 years and being unsuccessful. Would taking diet pills decrease my chances of ever becoming a mam? If so I will NOT take the pills. Also I am on antibiotics: Flucloxacillin and If I do take these diet pills, will the antibiots stop the diet pills working?
Thank you.
-
ANSWER:
Diet pills are associated with heart or organ damage. Not associated with infertility. Antibiotics generally have no effect on diet pills. My suggestion is to get a medical workup as well as a COMPLETE log of what you eat over two weeks (that includes measuring your portions). Determine if you have a medical problem or not. I had a terrible time trying to lose weight, so I get it.
Also, try following something closer to a low carb diet. Eliminating or severely reducing starchy foods (such as potatoes, rice and pasta) and flour products really does make a difference over time. Most lower calorie foods simply replace the fat with sugar, which doesn't help.

QUESTION:
What is a good diet for someone without a gall bladder who is trying to lose weight?
I eat healthy, exercise but it seems that no matter what I try I don't seem to be losing weight. People keep telling me to eat a low fat diet but the doctor told me that eating low fat is what killed my gall bladder. He said that everything in moderation. However it seems that if I eat too much protein I get sick, if I eat low fat I get sick. I am so confused until I am on the verge of just giving up. I try to balance it out but I don't seem to lose a pound. Can someone help? I need realistic help. I have a very understanding family but I don't want to make them suffer with special diet. I can prepare two meals for dinner if need be but it would be easier to just prepare one. Any suggestions? I am also looking for something long term. More like a life change as apposed to a diet.-
ANSWER:
Build your diet around these trim-body-friendly foods:-- Nuts, any kind (almonds are best)
-- Beans/Legumes
-- Fresh vegetables (green is GREAT!!!)
-- Dairy products (as long as they’re low-fat or non-fat)
-- Eggs
-- Lean meats (fish and poultry top the list)
-- Olive oil
-- Whole grain breads/cereals/pasta
-- Fresh fruits (anything that ends in “berry” is a winner)
-- Tea (green tea or black pekoe tea

QUESTION:
Does a low carb diet lower the amount of good bacteria in your gut?
If I go on a low carb diet, will it lower the amount of good bacteria in my gut? Also, if I take probiotics, will they be able to be sustained in my gut on a low carb diet or will the probiotics be ineffective in providing benefits if I am on a low carb diet?
Thanks.
-
ANSWER:
No, a "low carb" diet will not ruin the good bacteria in your gut unless you're eating way too much cheese. The probiotics would be a good idea too. Also, "low carb" diets are not a good idea. Better to eat plenty of unrefined carbs like fruits and veggies for fiber. If you're eating just protein or fat it's not good for the kidneys, esp. long term. Dr. Atkins, who popularized the low carb diets died of a heart attack after all.If you are really looking the best way to diet,
I suggest doing what this mom did and combining the Acai diet with a cleansing program for the best result

QUESTION:
Does the cabbage soup diet actually work? How much weight have people lost on this diet?
I've tried this diet before, only I ended up giving in after only a few days! But was wondering what people's experiences of doing this diet are? Is it worth me trying again? I have about 7 pounds to lose in a week!-
ANSWER:
Baby.. Crash diets are the surest way of not doing Weight Reduction procedures. Skipping meals and living on Cabbage Soup deprives your body of a whole lot of vital macro and micro nutrients.. It is not beneficial in the long run to indulge in such unscientific methods (pl don't mind the pun..)You have not given any statistics on your height / weight.. Going by your measure of 7 pounds to lose per week..
It has been calculated that 1 pound of body fat is equal to 3500 calories. This means that in order to lose 1 pound we have to walk for about 12.5 hours. So don't expect fast weight loss and remember to eat sensibly.
Just like you don't eat once a week and stock up for the whole week's body requirements, exercising once a week is also a non-starter (no benefit). To get tangible benefits out of your exercise regimen, you must sweat it out vigorously at least 5 times a week for 30-45 minutes sessions each.
Eating vegetables (more importantly, shunning non-veg - as they have more calories per unit weight) is only one step in the weight reduction process.
Diet, Supplementation, Exercise, Positive Mental Attitude - all these are required for a decent weight loss program. Patience and persistence are also very critical virtues in your endeavour.
You must try Amway's Positrim Healthy Living Weight Management Program to reduce weight systematically without starving your body of essential nutrients. you may get in touch with me for your requirements and i can guide you on how to buy them..

Alli is the only over the counter weight loss pill approved by the FDA. There are only three prescription weight loss medications approved. Do you think that if any of them REALLY worked we would have a billion a year industry in "weight loss" supplements?
The big three pharmaceuticals would dominate the market.
Approved or otherwise, none of these weight loss supplements guarantee anything unless you establish a healthy diet and exercise program.
So why not just establish a healthy diet and exercise program and keep your money?
You will be spending somewhere between and per day on a product that is not approved or guaranteed to do anything!
The only weight loss supplement I recommend is a basic multivitamin.
Good luck.

QUESTION:
What is the best diet plan to follow for weight loss?
I need to lose 20 pounds by summer and I need a easy diet plan to follow. I work 2 jobs and don't have a lot of time to prep food. I'd like a diet plan that uses minimal processed foods and doesn't take a long time to prepare. Has anyone found a diet plan that works for them? I will be incorporating some exercise as well, but I have a knee injury that prevents me from doing anything with much impact.-

Look like your are very busy, but why not just Power walk 45 mins daily, but you have to walk faster, like jogging to burn FAT. And you can buy some apple, orange , can of tuna (in water), instant oatmeal (120 cal per bag), 2 boxes of eggs (hard boil), zero yogurt etc. they dont need too much time to prepare, you can hard boil 12 eggs for 2 -3 days, oatmeal, you just need add hot water for it. try to keep your cal within 1200-1400 cals, and power walk for 45 mins daily, you will lose 1 lb weekly or more. but you have to walk faster not shopping speed. 45 mins is about 5-6KM. Take care !
