Mazey,I get such a kick out of the names of the diets. What happens on day 18? Do you go back to how you ate before? Losing weight is a life style change. No magic diets or pills, no fairy godmother to anoint you with a new body. And, here's the hard part... it takes... wait for it... work. We've not been taught good healthy eating habit so consequently we're mostly fat and without a solution.
There are a couple of things you can do.
Firstly, eat a balanced diet for your individual metabolism type, the right proportions of proteins, fats and complex carbs. You can find out about your type for free at several sites on the Internet or you can type in Google "easydietforlife diet-assessment" without the quote marks to get to a good one.
I would suggest being active rather than exercising. Walk for 30 minutes, swim, ride a bike, that sort of thing. You could even check out burst training, it's real quick and very effective.
If you want to learn how your body functions so you can eat properly for the rest of your life read the ebook “GOING FAT2Lean.”
You will get how our bodies function, just how Mother Nature intended us to feed them.
What you can do immediately is the following:
*Stop drinking all sodas
*Drink half your weight in ounces of water daily
*Stay away from all "white" foods (they are simple carbs that turn into glucose easily) - bread, pasta, white rice, white potatoes.

Thank you experts! Randy and I, both, tried The 17 Day Diet and couldn’t agree more. Truly, the above medical advice is the base line we follow for our good health. Oh, we have tried a few diet trends. But in the end we always agree, “Let’s just stick to eating healthy and exercising.”
Randy and I may agree with the experts, but that’s not to say that The 17 Day Diet is a flop. We did learn some new and valuable information we’ve added to our eating habits (probiotic yogurt is awesome for you, but that’s another blog). Let me tell you a little about this diet and our experience on it…
The 17 Day Diet is Doctor Michael Moreno’s strategy for rapid weight loss. It’s based on 3 cycles, each lasting 17 days, plus a 4th long-term maintenance cycle. Moreno claims whether it’s 10 pounds or 100 pounds, this plan can help you lose weight quickly, avoid the dreaded plateaus, and revamp your metabolism.
Cycle 1 is what Dr. Moreno calls the “accelerate cycle”: includes eating lots of lean protein, cleansing vegetables such as broccoli and cabbage, and low-sugar fruits such as berries and apples (no fruit after 2pm), healthy fats (olive oil, flaxseed oil), low-fat yogurt, water and green tea.
It prohibits many foods including most fast foods, fried foods, processed foods, starchy carbohydrates such as bagels, pasta, crackers and white bread, and fruits such as pineapple and bananas.
Moreno writes, “Most people can expect to lose 10 to 15 pounds during the first 17 days.” And I do think this is true for the most part, if those people have the will power to follow cycle 1 to the tee.
Randy and I started out on cycle 1 “ok,” but truthfully, we gave up after day 4. The menu was too restrictive. Both of us were physically tired and drained of energy. This was terrible, considering we have 2 little kids and a baby to keep up with. We were moody, even a little shaky sometimes (I think from low blood sugar). This had to be the result of lacking in calories and cutting too many healthy varieties of foods. It was obvious that this cycle wasn’t balanced nutritionally for us, and as a result, we caved.
Those 4 days were not without some success though. We did lose weight. I lost 4 pounds and Randy lost 2 1/2. But, 4 pounds in 4 days? That’s a pound a day and to what expense!?!
Needless to say, Randy and I did not move onto to experience the next 3 cycles. For some of you, Dr. Moreno’s plan may fit. I cannot say we didn’t lose weight, and in all fairness, Randy and I did not see it through to the last cycle. Considering our 4 day experience, though, even with the success of losing weight, we still agree, “Let’s just stick to eating healthy and exercising.

I have been on the 17 diet now about 14 days. I am very proud to say that i have stayed on this diet and followed the plan exactly layed out in the book. The first week i had huge success! Inone week i lost 10 pounds, so natually i was feeling pretty good about the diet. Finally i had found a diet that worked for me. Now i am on week 2 and nothing. I still follow the diet exactly layed out. I work out 45 minutes a day. I have not lost 1 pound more. I have looked all over the internet for forums or QnA's on this diet and have come up empty handed. Hopefully someone reading this can answer a few questions. First question, is it normal to lose that much and then nothing?? Will i start seeing more weight loss in the 2nd cycle? Also i am concerned because i have not had a bowel movemnet in 4 days. I ahve got a lot of feedback blaming this on the green tea. Has anyone else experienced this? I want to continue on this diet and i will finish it out for the 4 cycles. I don't think you should...during the first cycle you should abstain from starch products to get best results...however, shirakaki is low in carbs so it is probably the best option if you are really really craving noodles. But if possible, I would wait until the second or third cycle since this cycle is specifically for cleansing which requires proteins and pro-biotic foods mainly.And yes I believe you are allowed tofu; as for the fat-free dressings - I would avoid because they still have a decent amount of sugar/salt...opt for balsamic vinegars/dressing instead?

I think any diet that makes you "eliminate" food you like is going to fail. What seems to succeed is eating reasonably healthy, but also eating what you love, but all in smaller amounts. If you currently eat a plateful of food at each meal, eat 2/3s of a plateful instead. You will absolutely lose weight, and you will be able to sustain it forever because you are still eating what you like. Any diet that tells you can't eat certain foods is doomed to failure because human nature is to want those "forbidden" foods. The Twinkie diet shows clearly that calories are what count, not what you eat. What you eat affects your health, of course. But calories, in any form, are what affect how much you weigh. Eat whatever you want, in smaller portions, and you will lose weight. (P.S. Exercise also has little effect on weight - you can lose a few pounds through exercise, but not much. I saw "The Doctors" today and they were talking about it. You basically eat all the veggies you want, 5 servings of fruit, lean meats-grilled chicken, turkey, low fat ice cream, 1 square of dark chocolate, and boiled eggs. Basically, eat whatever you want (other than junk food) but in moderation. Good Luck =)

This diet is not a fad quick diet. If you look into it you'll notice it goes for as long as it takes to lose the weight by repeating the first 3 cycles. Once you are at the weight you want you go to the fourth cycle which basically teaches you portion control. I love it, I started 2 days ago and the lunches arent that great but both dinners ive had are awesome. The book is an easy read an I lost 2 lbs in the first day. There is a lot of green tea and water though, and the first cycle is very strict, but it is worth it. Not only do you lose weight but you feel better. In 2 days I wake up feeling refreshed instead of groggy and bloated. And it def doesn't leave you hungry at all! your plenty full. I highly recommend it

Sorry hun I didn't see that but I know that Zumba does a 10 day work out and diet plan as part of their online shop. Its really good exercise alone and I mixed it with a different diet.just be careful on fast track diets as they can make you lose loads but if your not exercising you will gain it quickly again after the diet has stopped. And they should only be done for the length of time stated and not longer.

I've been kinda hungry and craving anything with sugar while on this diet (5th day today), wondered if i can have a slim fast shake in sub. of a meal possibly followed with some veggies? or maybe a slim fast bar for energy right before volleyball practice? (I'm 16)Also a 17 day diet excercize related question: on the diet it says at least 17 minutes of excersize per day. Do you think this is enough excersize: Monday i have volleyball practice from 6pm-8pm (which usually includes heavy conditioning, its club v-ball). i also have vball thursday nights from 6-8.Tuesday-Friday I work at a pizza restaraunt from 11:30amish- 2:30pm ish (wed. i start at 9:30am) and I'm on my feet all day sometimes running to answer phones and such. But saturday is my lazy day i usually don't do much, and sunday i have church. So i guessmy question is do i get enough excersize daily from being active at work, or do I need to like run or do additional excersize on non-vball days. I might be stupid for asking this but: since i work out for 2 hours straight 2x a week intensely, does that make me active- semi active, will my normal weekly routine help me lose weight? (sorry for this intense rambling paragraph, blame a.d.d

slimfast doesnt work. the second you stop using it you will gain all the weight back... =but your exercise routine appears to be enough work. try to walk more during the day too that could help

so i made a bet with my friend about who could get more ripped. I'm 14, 5"6, 152 lbs. he's doing P90X and i'm doing the 17 day diet, but i'm also doing 48 hours football workouts + 15 2 a days. Who will probably win and what can i do to help myself?
and im a D-Lineman so i'll be doing a whole lot of weight lifting plus a fair amount of conditioning-

As a defensive lineman your caoch is gonna want you to be big and bulky.P90X will make you small and sleek so while you are definately going to have more muscle than him his muscles will show better(a skinny man with a little bit of muscle will have six pack abs and cuts showing every individual muscle.A 250 pound line baker that benches 470 pounds will still have a flaby stomach and arms that are big and firm but looks the same as a fat man arms.If you want to win the bet you should change it to who will be stronger.Challenge him to bench press or arm wrestle.But dont challenge him to a push up contest cause im prety sure i see them do it with one arm and sometimes with their feet in the air in the video.Good luck!
